The infamous Bodyline, or "leg theory" as the poms liked to call it, captain of the English ashes side in 1932-3.
See what you can do.

Ahh.. gotta be Norma Jean. My daughter has that very picture hanging in her bedroom ....Along with about 2 million others of her.
I've always thought that she looked so much better in those earlier, more natural poses.

Nope...The possible confusion with Cobby was why I made the comment about this chap joining in 1917. Cobby joined in 1916.
Both of them were awarded the DFC and two bars though.

Maybe time for another clue.
In his book, "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" T E Lawrence reminisces about watching this guy, in his Bristol F2B, shoot down a German plane in Palestine in 1918.

Good on you John, He was Lawrence's pilot on a number of occasions and was, with his brother and a couple of mechanics, the first Australians to fly from England to Australia.
They did this in a converted Vickers Vimy bomber which had the registration number G-EAOU which was humorously said to have been an acronym for "God 'elp all of us"

No fun unless you have to do a bit of work for it
It's a bit testing to give clues that lead down the path without making it a giveaway.
I'm pretty sure we also learn a bit more about history along the way as well.
Whilst Google may help, you still have to have an idea what to ask it for, and I'm trying hard to put up photos that are not on Google.
As to your pic, my first impression was a very young Shirley Temple, but on closer inspection, I think not, and your clue "who did she grow up to be?" kinda killed that idea as well.
I thought my clue that he looks better in drag might have given a bit of a clue.
Maybe her boys could help.

I was hoping that someone else would join in the fun with the couple of clues provided.
Put up another clue BG, you might entice a reluctant participant.

Hahahahaa One of my problems - overconfidence - took a quadrella at the races once, got three legs in and had to leave before the last leg - actually went to the tote window and asked where I could pick up my winnings after race day!!!!!!
Hope this one works -

Correct answer to the previous is yours Jules.
