Over the last two years we have witnessed our citizens being denied the right to return home. The main question, in my opinion, is why was he given a visa knowing his supposed views on vaccination and that he was unvaccinated?
He strolls into Australia and out of the woodwork comes the Govt with motor mouth leading the charge. If they had just enforced the no vaccines no entry rule placed on everyone else, right from start, none of this embarrassment would have needed to have happened. But then, its always someone elses fault isnt it.

My understanding (misunderstanding?) is that there is no "no vaccines no entry rule". The rule appears to be "no vaccine, no quarantine-less entry", or does this only apply to Australian citizens?

I think this puts the blame clearly where it belongs.
I think Morrison had plenty of publicly acceptable ammunition to boot Novax out of the country (lying on his visa application, allegations of COVID test manipulation, attending public events while infected), but instead the government chose to paint him as a thought criminal. The government's ineptitude just beggars belief.
"What began as a row over the exemption Djokovic procured to Australian vaccine mandates, about whether or not his exemption had been properly acquired or adequately proven, quickly turned into something altogether more sinister. In the end, he was deported because of what he thinks, his mere presence in Australia apparently deemed too dangerous to go on a moment longer."

I dont really know what this weeks entry rules are Dorian. Probably just based on what may get a few votes.
How this whole sorry mess was handled has been a total embarrassment to our country. All so that incompetent fool could look tough.

Actually, if you trouble to read the international press you'll find most are supportive of Australia and its actions.

Nothing to do with politics Mike. I just don't like where this country is heading. The man was punted because the minister thought his views on vaccinations might lead to public disorder among the anti vax crowd, It was nothing to do with being a health risk, character or even dodgy applications being filed.
I wonder what will happen to the next sports person or in fact anyone who is not a citizen who comes here and doesn't worship coal or is not in favour of franking credits and negative gearing. Straight in to custody and first plane out. He might get the electric vehicle or young people who want to be able to buy a house crowd agitated leading to public disorder. Do they really think that the Australian public is that stupid that the views of a tennis player will substitute for medical opinion? Well be can't be too bright, look who we elected.
A shameful act that will not be easily forgotten by the international community.

Yes the whole thing smacked of how much the govt can look good rather than just sending him home for the real reason.
Pistol and Boo were how things were meant to be handled by a tough govt
French President Emmanuel Macron says he wants to "piss off" unvaccinated people.
Mr Macron said he wanted to make their lives so complicated they would have to end up getting inoculated.
In an interview with Le Parisien newspaper, he said unvaccinated people were irresponsible and not worthy of being considered citizens.

Don't be obtuse Dmaxer, it's tiresome.
You know as well as I they kicked him out on that clause because it was deemed the most likely to beat the appeal.
We all know the little p**** should never have been allowed in and if the BF officer had given him another few hours he would have been booted originally.
This has been a bit of an administrative co.ck-up and no more, it is not a total failure of government and the sky is not falling.
One really good thing about this circus is that it is now widely known around the world that Australia decides who comes here and not some jumped-up little twit with a bit of fame who thinks he or she is important and *that* is how it should be.

I expect that Novax was used to getting his way. His recent visit to Spain was apparently unchallenged, even though Spain has a vaccination requirement for inbound travellers. Let's hope France pulls him into line for their Open in May. It would be interesting to see how Macron proceeds, given that Morrison messed up badly, and we all know how much Macron likes him.

I think its about time this thread was closed now. We have seen the controversy re Novak and its over...he is gone. Where he goes now and what he does is of no importance to me. This is a caravan and camping forum, so lets return to what we love doing best and that is helping each other in their travels, and forget about him.

Then it could be reported that,
* The Wayne from Spain is now back on the plane*
Sorry!
I havent seen any footage of him homeward bound this morning on the tv news.
Maybe he hasnt gone yet.
Maybe he is turning up at the open with a robbers mask and entering as a wild card.

By stating this I certainly dont condone anything he did or that I suggested that I would agree with anyone falsifying a vax document or record.
A vaccination document in his name might be something other countrys may want to check prior to issuing him permission to enter.
Just thinking aloud again.
Here is another story to add to the mix:
