Right you are Sandy. Who do we look for now ?
Stephen Robert Irwin, nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian zookeeper, conservationist, television personality, wildlife expert, and environmentalist.
I think he's the actor who played the husband of Dorrie Evans on Number 96.

Gundog has come up with the name. Your right Dorian about Number 96, he was known as Herb Evans there. Anyway over to Gundog who do you have for us.
Ronald Ernest McMurtry (3 February 1906 in Carlton, Melbourne, Australia 8 August 1993), professionally known as Ron Shand and earlier in his career billed as Ronnie McMurtry, was an Australian actor and comedian who worked extensively in numerously genres of the show business industry including, circus, soft shoe, theatre, cabaret, revue vaudeville, radio, television and film. Shand was also a recording artist.
He started his career in vaudeville in Perth, he was probably best known however for his role in television soap opera Number 96 as Herb Evans.

Spot on Graham. Who's next ?
Mae West (born Mary Jane West; August 17, 1893 November 22, 1980) was an American stage and film actress, playwright, screenwriter, singer, and sex symbol whose entertainment career spanned over seven decades.[1] She was known for her breezy sexual independence, and her lighthearted bawdy double entendres, often delivered in a husky contralto voice.[2] She was active in vaudeville and on stage in New York City before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry.
West was one of the most controversial movie stars of her day; she encountered problems especially with censorship. She once quipped, "I believe in censorship. I made a fortune out of it."[3][4] She bucked the system by making comedy out of conventional mores, and the Depression-era audience admired her for it. When her film career ended, she wrote books and plays, and continued to perform in Las Vegas and the United Kingdom, on radio and television, and recorded rock 'n roll albums. In 1999, the American Film Institute posthumously voted West the 15th greatest female screen legend of classic American cinema.

You are correct your turn
Frank John Partridge, VC (29 November 1924 23 March 1964) was an Australian soldier, farmer, quiz show champion, and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest decoration for gallantry "in the face of the enemy" awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces. He was decorated for his actions on Bougainville in July 1945, when he attacked two Japanese bunkers despite severe wounds. Partridge was the last and, at 20 years of age, the youngest Australian awarded the Victoria Cross in the Second World War. He later became a farmer and a television quiz champion, and unsuccessfully ran for political office shortly before his death in a car accident
