Philip David Charles CollinsLVO (born 30 January 1951) is an English drummer, singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is best known for his tenure as the drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis and for his solo career which began in 1981. Between 1982 and 1990, Collins scored three UK and seven US number-one singles as a solo artist. When his work with Genesis, his work with other artists, as well as his solo career is totalled, he had more US top 40 singles than any other artist during the 1980s.[8] His most successful singles from the period include "In the Air Tonight", "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)", "One More Night", and "Another Day in Paradise".
Born and brought up in west London, Collins played drums from the age of five and completed drama school training, which secured him various roles as a child actor, with his first major role, aged 13, as the Artful Dodger in the West End musical Oliver!. He then pursued a music career, joining Genesis in 1970 as their drummer and becoming lead singer in 1975 following the departure of Peter Gabriel. Collins began a successful solo career in the 1980s, initially inspired by his marital breakdown and love of soul music, releasing the albums Face Value (1981), Hello, I Must Be Going (1982), No Jacket Required (1985) and ...But Seriously (1989). Collins became, in the words of AllMusic, "one of the most successful pop and adult contemporary singers of the '80s and beyond".[9] He also became known for a distinctive gated reverb drum sound on many of his recordings.[10] In 1985, he was the only artist to perform at both Live Aid concerts. He also resumed his acting career, appearing in Miami Vice and subsequently starring in the film Buster (1988). In 1996, Collins left Genesis to focus on solo work; this included writing songs for Disney's Tarzan (1999) for which he received an Oscar for Best Original Song for "You'll Be in My Heart". He rejoined Genesis for their Turn It On Again Tour in 2007. Following a five-year retirement to focus on his family life, Collins released an autobiography in 2016 and completed his Not Dead Yet Tour in 2019. He then rejoined Genesis in 2020 for a second reunion tour, ending in March 2022.

Is he Nick McArdle?

I know who he is, but I had to cheat with a reverse search in Google Images to identify him. In my opinion the clue is misleading because he is not associated with sport in any way, at least not in the true sense of the word.

For those of you who don't cheat and don't want to inflict this thread with opinionated rubbish, I have already given a clue as to the sport he is involved in.
To make it real easy, his family has a lot of Cups.

Yes that's him Sandy , carrying on a family tradition.
A bit of an extended bio for those who are not familiar with him.
Sandy I use the search regularly, just another google function, only when I don't know who it is. I then don't play.
Over to you.
Trainer: James Cummings
James Cummings was appointed as Godolphin's head trainer in Australia in May 2017, after almost a decade at the Sydney-based Leilani Lodge, Randwick, where he worked alongside his grandfather Bart Cummings before taking over the reins.
James Cummings is a fourth-generation racehorse trainer, following in the footsteps of great-grandfather Jim, grandfather Bart and father Anthony.
He began working as a stable hand for his father when he was just 13 and his love affair with racing grew from there.
In 2009, he became foreman at Leilani Lodge under the tutelage of his grandfather and was granted his New South Wales Metropolitan Trainers license in 2013, entering into a training partnership with his grandfather.
James continued to train at Leilani Lodge after Barts death, carrying on the extraordinary legacy of one of racings greatest ambassadors.
He made the perfect start as Godolphin Australias head trainer, with his very first runner in the royal blue silks coming home a winner.
He was responsible for his first G1 winner just three months later, when Alizee took the Flight Stakes at Royal Randwick in September 2017.
Since then, James has trained seven G1 winners including the quinella in the 2019 G1 Golden Slipper, the worlds richest juvenile race.
As of May 19, 2019 James has won 54 individual Black Type races for Godolphin.
Know the face, but the name won't come. Again!!! Think he was a Pollie.

No worries Dorian.
Don Chipp it is, now who do you have for us.
Donald Leslie Chipp, AO (21 August 1925 28 August 2006) was an Australian politician who was the inaugural leader of the Australian Democrats, leading the party from 1977 to 1986. He began his career as a member of the Liberal Party, winning election to the House of Representatives in 1960 and serving as a government minister for a cumulative total of six years. Chipp left the Liberals in 1977 and was soon persuaded to lead a new party, the Democrats who, he famously proclaimed in 1980, would "keep the bastards honest". He was elected to the Senate on 10 December 1977 and led the party at four federal elections. From 1983 it held the sole balance of power in the Senate.
Thank you Sheba. This man is very well known and has had major health problems in the past few years.

I think this should be an easy one.
You'r right there dorian. He's Mahatma Gandhi.
Yes, over to you, Sheba.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (/ndi, ændi/;[3] GAHN-dee; 2 October 1869 30 January 1948), also known as Gandhi, was an Indian lawyer,[4] anti-colonial nationalist[5] and political ethicist[6] who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule,[7] and to later inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
Thanks dorian. Who remembers this lady ?
Is it Hedy Lamarr?
Looks like a young Sophia Loren to me
Hi guys. Sorry, not Hedy or Sophia. I'll make it easy. I'd say her forbears were Irish.
Her Co-star in quite a number of Movies, was John Wayne.
