While I don't watch any TV news shows, I use their internet sites. But I like to balance the left wing bias of ABC with the right wing bias of Sky News. If you only follow one side you miss out on so much and don't realise how much the media brainwashes us.

This is like it really is. And it applies to all our resources not only mining, but agriculture, fishing, water and anything else that is not nailed down and can be sold.
I just finished saying how the ABC offends me. I would like to narrow it down to the TV programs they produce. You know the ones where it seems there is a competition about who can yell the loudest and who can be the most outrageous, the most inclusive and the most PC. Those people offend me. I guess their answer to that is "Great, thats what we wanted"
I read all news from as many sources as I can and make up my own mind. You are right "Are We Lost" the purpose of the media is to brainwash the ordinary people.

I like the ABC. There are no annoying ads other than promotions of the ABC shows and these only occur between shows, not partway through them. The latter tends to interrupt the flow of the show.
It is interesting that many of the shows that appear on the ABC later appear on the commercial TV stations.
I certainly don't like the so called reality shows.

I rarely watch anything on the ABC that is to do with news events.
I find it nothing but a platform for Greenies and Climate Malingerers.
The commercial stations by their very source of income wont be locked to one government view for next parliamentary term. This is probably not the absolute ideal method of the way of reporting but it is streets better than the one sided reporting by an endless supply of relatively unknown journalists that are all just competing for their job security.
My view is that our domestic news services can not get much worse unless they all start to follow the ABC example.

The irony is that the ABC is actually liberal in the true sense of the word. It's the Liberals (aka Conservatives) who have the ideological problems.
As for grinning faces, I didn't notice any, but I did notice the sad faces on Sky "News" on subsequent days. In any case, perhaps those grinning faces are a reflection of the relief that ABC employees must feel knowing that their budget won't be slashed yet again.

Returning to power supply, its pretty windy around South Australia today, at this moment SA is getting 90% of it supply from wind and battery the remainder is coming from gas.
The green power proponents support this trend but why is SA the dearest state for power, the mean average is between 32 and 35 cents per kwh, compared to Qld 80% from non renewables is 20 to 22cents per kwh.

We had our first blackout in years, Ergon site showed an area around us was without power, I used the generator to power the house, after the power came on, I looked at their site and another area was without power. Hmmmm, load shedding?

I don't know. Maybe it's the plan that people have bought. If one was to switch to a 100% renewable plan then maybe there wouldn't be any increases in prices, just like the ACT has done.

As the title suggests, maybe it's time for SA residents to reconsider their energy provider.

SA is connected to the national grid.
The failure of renewables to be able to supply power has been documented so many times it really needs no further explanation.
While we have had forced on all of us the need to rush into this renewal fantasy SA has no reserve. SA has no base line power available
SA signed up to receive excess power from the grid.
Other states use this receiving of extra power to supplement high usage periods.
SA can not because they have no base line power to supply to the grid in return.
The interstate suppliers arent going to give SA this extra power and for this the providers in SA are buying power at a premium and passing this cost on to consumers.
Some energy providers have pulled out of the market which leaves us all with the main players, so changing providers is fast becoming no option for consumers. This is not only in SA.
As a country we were operating just fine until we came under the actions of climate maniacs that insisted we jump blindly into using renewables for our entire power supply.
Waiting and observing what does and doesnt work in other countries would have been a much better policy.
We dont see the big industrial countries closing power stations and hoping this very new technology will meet their needs.
If we in Aus keep closing power stations without replacing them with new reliable technology such as nuclear then get used to being cold or very hot and living in the dark and you can probably forget driving electric cars as well.
Roxby Downs could provide power to all of SA and most of SE Asia if those that are standing in the way drag their collective heads out of their sandpits and allow it to progress.

The "renewables at any cost" bandwagon tends to be largely pushed by the middle classes who may well have a household income in excess of $150k pa, a household utility cost increase of, say, $15 a week is neither here nor there to them; to a family on minium wage or social security it's the difference between giving the children jam and bread or a proper meal two nights a week.

During the time I spent there I was mainly in rural areas and the transmission poles and wires in those days were of poor quality in a lot of areas. In particular many country areas.
Most farms and stations had their own generators and the homes were wired to allow a simple plug in of the units.
The power could be off for days at a time.
Although treated as a joke it was commonly stated that SA finished at Gepps Cross because of the lack of empathy from the then succession of state governments toward country folk. All state elections were fought within the metropolitan area of Adelaide. The outer seats were rusted on and very predictable results so nothing ever changed.
This fact was compounded during the extended period when D Dunstan ruled the regime.

In 2007 I bought a 3.0kva UPS (uninterruptible power supply) & additional batteries $4,500 got sick to death of all the blackouts. That year 6 long blackouts & numerous little ones.
Neighbours would come around wondering why we had power & they didn't, & this is a Sydney suburb.
Maybe there will be a repeat tonight!

As at this moment SA is depending on the interconnector with Vic to top up their power needs, likewise NSW is pulling power from the interconnectors wit Qld and Vic.
WA plays by its self, where as Tas has an interconnector with Vic to receive or send power into the east coast grid
