This would be in Rochester in Victoria I think & is of Hubert Opperman. I use to do a lot of bicycle racing for the St George Cycling Club in Sydney in my youth so got to learn about some of the greats like Oppy & Russel Mockridge

Last time we were in Rochester there was a group of hippie cyclists surrounding the statue. Looked like they were praying to their idol.

Entrance to Port Stephens NSW
Give the man a cigar! You're close enough Jim, It's actually taken from Soldiers Point at Port Stevens
Guess it's your turn.
Local knowledge....Have regularly fished the area off Port Stephens.... I recognised it was taken from Soldiers Point or Salamander Bay.
Here's mine....
Not really the entrance .... only give him half a cigar

Well! I'm the real Jon, not the real John, or for that matter the fake John...or even the fake jon...I think.
Anyway I'm standing up right now...well I;m actually sitting down to reach the keyboard but am figuratively standing up...so to speak...
Dunno where it is, but hope that poor woman on the pedestal finds the shower block in a hurry!

A brief digression... back in the late 60s I was on a committee organising a cycle race. We decided to ask Sir Bruce Small to a dinner being held to promote the race. To our surprise he accepted but asked if he could bring an old mate with him.
The "old mate" turned out to be Sir Hubert Opperman! (Oppy). Both were fascinating after dinner speakers.
(Sorry about that folks, we can get back to place guessing now!)
Every time we come across a lighthouse I get a photo or three of it but I know I havn't got this one in my album yet so must be in a place we haven't been yet.
Will be interested to hear where it is.
Cheers Jon
