Wow!!! wish we could send some of this rain we're getting here in Tully at the moment down south.
Nearly 400 mls in 24 hrs in some places.
Heaviest rain I've seen in years here.
Cheers Jen and Sol

We'd love some rain. Hubby has been watering the lawn so it wouldn't die - something he never does - and now the garden. Clouds today, but no rain and they say SE corner will be drier and cooler nights.

It looks like the rain is all north or south of Brissy. Although weatherzone says there's a 90% chance of rain for the next several days.
A friend of mine does the parcel deliveries for Atherton, and she was delivering in torrential rain this morning. Poor bugga!

At Nerrandera, stifling hot, have no idea what the temp is. Only going to Ariah Park tomorrow. Too hot to travel far in this heat.

The low from FNQ has moved down the coast and we're finally getting some much needed rain!
It's currently 24 degrees, but the humidity is 81%! The wind is also expected to pick up over the long weekend.
So Australia Day will be a wet one in many parts of Qld.
Australia! One part of the country is dry and hot and the other wet and humid! Stay safe whichever situation you're in.

HW you may have your trip delayed the further north you go by the sound of the rain and floods. Yes, Australia - big enough to have bushfires and floods at the same time. Don't you love this 'sunburnt country'????

Yes, has me a bit worried. Son said Biggenden is flooding. We just wanted the tank full. He also said some roads around Dalby are already damaged. I will be interested on updates from anyone getting the news up that way. At Ariah Park tonight, and will go to Forbes for 2 nights tomorrow, then spend the rest going very slowly northward.

Keep up to date on the weather as you travel north Marj. Not looking too promising for you to get through. Don't forget there's a bed here for you if you can't go any further north.

Just talked to son, he said Biggy is completely cut off at the moment. It will be at least a week before I hit the border I think so hopefully it will be in clean up mode by then. Unfortunately Beth you are on the other side to where I want to go. Don't fancy driving through Brisbane to get to your place in the rain.

Just had one of the worst storms in Canberra that I can remember. Horizontal rain, flooding and lots of lightening. Front lawn under water. Big tree blocking entrance to cul de sac so not going anywhere at the moment. Was lucky, all the old gum trees around the house appear to be ok just lost lots of bark and branches. and I had spent the afternoon raking up after our last few windy days. Oh well will try again tomorrow.

msg we must be getting the tail end of your storm on the coast. Lovely to finally have some rain - but don't need any damage like you have had. My hubby raked the leaves today too. Usually happens. More thunder. Better get off the computer.

Well I can't complain about the dry weather now either! We've had so much rain in the last 24 hours!
The powers that be started letting water out of Wivenhoe Dam yesterday,,hopefully they started early enough. The causway at Colleges Crossing has been closed off, but the weir at Mt Crosby is still okay for now.
We have extended family in the Bargara/Bundaberg area, so were a bit worried about them when we heard of the tornadoes in the area, and the resulting damage. All are okay for now, thank goodness.
Hope our GN friends in that area are safe too.

Batten down the hatches NeilnRuth.
Interesting sight during the storm was the C o cotoos that live in the trees took shelter in the hollow between the fence and shrubs. about a dozen of them lining the fence.

Just ask Topsy when she comes around to collect the fees. It might be because you paid for the 3 nights in 2 lots. Great spot. Good to give something back to such a struggling little community. My brother-in-law used to live there. But watch out for hitch-hiking mice!
Weatherwise - our area has a severe storm warning for next few hours.

Yes, stay put Marj.
Getting very wild and windy here now. I've been on Channel 7 all day, watching/listening to their live coverage and updates. I hope we don't get any of those tornados here. That's a very scary thought.
We had 25mls of lovely rain with only a bit of lightning and thunder. Hoping for some more when that's all soaked in. Sky's looking grey again.
Marj I hope you got the 2 nights for $20 and third night free at Ariah Park. Yes, stay put. Wait and see what the weather is going to do. Stay safe.
Beth hope your weather doesn't deteriorate too much.

Awoonga Dam has 9.5 mtres of water going over the spillway at the moment. For those who don't know, this is the dam/lake that Boynedale Free Camp is on, and where our Qld Autumn meet is planned for. Hopefully we'll be okay for camping there by mid April.
Thanks Ruth. Not too bad where I am. Gusty wind now and then, lots of rain...the pool is overflowing...so we won't have to worry about dry gardens and brown lawn for awhile.

They didn't tell me about that NeilnRuth. Cheeky devils. I paid for one night when I got here yesterday, then after hearing from sons about the storms, went down and bought 2 more nights. 30.00 all up. Maybe I better check that out. Or just stay another night. lol

Here in Hobart - we have beautiful blue sky, no clouds - a lovely day. Hoping all our Qld friends and family are safe and dry!!! Several places cut off by floodwaters, Lake Moogerah in the Scenic Rim is over the spillway - caravan park closed, the shops in Boonah and surrounds are on short supply of milk and bread, the road to Beaudesert and Ipswich is cut by water.
Glad we are here and not there!!
Stay safe!

An evacuation centre has been set up in Maryborough as the Mary river reaches its peak. My grandkids live there. Grandson is with his dad over in Biggy but grandaughter is in Maryborough with her mum. Hot sunny and dry here in Ariah Park. Supposed to leave tomorrow but from what I'm hearing of further north might be safer to stay a while longer yet, till it passes and supposed to head out to sea.

Gin Gin is cut off too, hope Jack Mac is in a safe position.
My sis & bil who live at Tin Can Bay, can't get home. They'd gone down to Landsborough to help move their daughter,,,yes bad timing ,,,and now they're stuck there. They're not worried, they have their caravan there, and their neighbours at TCB have checked on their house.
Here in Loganholme, the rain has eased. My rain guage overflowed so I don't know how much we've had, but the pool well and truly overflowed. The drains around the pool were blocking up so much that landlord took the covers off so water could flow more freely. We're still having wind gusts, but the worst is over in my neck of the woods. I feel for people in flooded areas though.
