I think this marks the spot of the death of one of our favorite wayward explorers Mr Robert Burke & it's in Cooper Creek from memory

You are getting warm, but not Cooper Creek.......the carving on this tree only states 1860.

Hi Sheba, no worries, but look forward to your next puzzling photo, cheers, ozi2.
OK, clues so far: It is not sited on the Cooper River, it is not Innaminka, it is not the famous dig tree, ( it is a Coolabah tree) and it has the date 1860 emblazened on the trunk( Burke and Wills perished in 1861) The camp number is 76 and the area is famous for a races held near by.........where is it?
Enjoy your day, cheers, ozi2

I'm confused, Ozi2. (Thats not difficult lately! )
In my Camps 5 and 6, Camp 76 is at or near Eungella, inland from Mackay. We've been there and it just doesnt look like the same area, dont think Coolabahs grow there. Birdsville races came to mind, and Coolabahs would certainly be in that area, but still havent any ideas about the tree.
