So if the figures above are correct why isnt the Dept. Aboriginal affairs being held accountable for mismanagement and not supporting their people as per their charter.

Until such figures are able to be presented to, comprehended, and understood by the average intellectually challenged do-gooder we always will be controlled by the loud PC group. stop the press ! who is in charge of aboriginal affairs? (careful or we could get this discussion closed down on political grounds but the problem goes back many different governments of all persuasions) if what i read is anywhere near correct there are apparently nearly 3000 bodies that are associated with the aboriginal industry all with a vested interest, by the time everyone has a dip in the funding pool for all the various grants, project funding, study tours, fact finding missions, office party ect ect ect there is very little left to for the remote communities. a lot of them rely on support from various people ( KEN DONE comes to mind he sponsors a remote community we do not hear anything about that) PADDY MILLS is another who with a American sponsor fronted up to supply a remote community with a badly needed fresh water system.
where was the government money that we pay out every year that should be used to fund such projects, would i be out of line to suggest that the urban and the others that are now starting to be referred to as the elite aboriginals, the ones who have benefited from the colonization of this country by the British and now wish to bite the hand that has been feeding them, have manage to access the fund for the benefit of a few. the white fellow has allowed this to happen mostly because he has allowed the aboriginals to become a industry an every clever Chappy white, brown, black ect wants a piece of the pie.

could this be an example of why the funds that should be available for remote aboriginal communities in need seem to come up short and were the money goes and who it goes to?

front page type news let people draw their own conclusions.
it is getting a bit off topic but if the "changing of names" causes a big fuss it diverts attention away from the real problems and as mentioned previously the changing of names is not a cheap exercise.

If changing the name gets kids into the schools, Im all for it. As some old bloke said A rose by any other name smells just as sweet.

i don't think changing the names will have much effect on attendance, maybe a better result could be got if a breakfast was supplied before school starts an a lunch thrown in for ALL the kids.
