I doubt that many of members have actually owned and operated any business where a budget is required to achieve a profit.
Just add an extra cost to the supplier in any transaction and it is NOT JUSTIFIED by the statement that that is ok because he got a $100 dollar sale.
THAT IS NOT HOW BUSINESS ACTUALLY WORKS. I do note that many on here seem to think because they pay they are automatically entitled to unfunded extras from a supplier, be it a van park or any business which relies on calculations of profits and loss.
Theft is theft and it should never be condoned no matter what the circumstances.

The young couple in the EV are typical of the ME generation.Gimme,gimme,gimme. Perhaps I am getting old,but I simply can't understand how anybody can condone these people "refuelling" their vehicle with what is effectively stolen electricity.You can be sure that the caravan park owner didn't allow for $6-$8 worth of electricity to be used outside the room.Perhaps we all should ask for a few litres of diesel to power our vehicles,or our diesel heaters? I wonder what the thoughts and comments from the Peanut Gallery would be if Wanda came out to find someone had siphoned the fuel from his vehicle just so that those who siphoned it could complete their journey cheaper than if they had to pay.
That, my Ill informed forum acquaintance, is theft. It is exactly the same as some unknown connecting a lead to a power point at your home and charging an EV without your knowledge.

I think we all have different attitudes depending on circumstances. I was a bit horrified at the young couples cavalier attitude and when I went inside to tell my wife she listened to the story and quietly asked whats the difference between charging an electric vehicle overnight and having a power cord running from van to car to keep your Engel fridge freezer powered 24/7, which we see all the time?
I had to have another glass of red to ponder her wisdom.

When you hire/rent a unit it comes with power(points), which I can only "assume" as I have never seen anything that says you "can or cannot" use to charge your, phone, camera, Ipad, torches, drones, buetooth sound systems and the list could go on and on including your car fridge, or, why not, fridges! Some people do travel with more than one.
Unless there was signage in the unit to say "no charging" of............whatever, they have done nothing ILLEGAL, end of story! Try taking them to court and see just how far you would get.

Technology is always changing and hopefully, it is improving. One can't expect the perfect option the first time new technology is released. A lot of thought goes into releasing a new technology, such as an EV. Then the bugs are ironed out and improvements made. If one expects the fully 'thought out' option first time then we'd still be bashing rocks together.

I suspect if you read the terms and conditions which the caravan park requires you to agree to you'll find a "Fair use" clause just as is in your "unlimited" NBN plan. It is this clause which prohibits me from filling my 10,000L water tanker at the park and similarly taking bucketfuls of electricity.
Powering the car fridge overnight will consume around 400 times *less* energy than charging an EV.
I have no doubt caravan parks will soon cotton on to this effective theft and directly prohibit or charge for it.

Correct, and a brand new scandal for Tesla has just surfaced. They are selling new cars fitted with battery packs that have been in storage since 2017, and an advisory note that range will be 10 to 12% less, they estimate. Would you buy a new 300 series cruiser fitted with a five year old engine?

Elect cars have been around for years . Trouble is some preach tech that isnt out here yet !! Btw some of these vehicles are fair chunk of money !! Most my tools at home are battery operated . The lawn mower included . But to close down one system of energy and add it to another ? Ive worked in the elect supply industry. You cant just switch from one to another without big infrastructure!! Much the same as going total solar on camper . Except its just not for lights and TV !

Powering the car fridge overnight will consume around 400 times *less* energy than charging an EV.
I have no doubt caravan parks will soon cotton on to this effective theft and directly prohibit or charge for it.
