Forumites not submitting enough info on their posts.

Tony,
You're spot on with your comments.
Doug,
I wonder how many members are using "Dumb phones" to do their forum stuff? They have this annoying thing about "correcting" what I & I guess others put in! I have nearly been caught a few times - even recorrecting the phone's spelling once, I find the useless thing decides it has to have the final word!
I wonder whether a bucket of water would solve the issue!

So is everything posted on forums such as this - would you have us all cease posting?

One of my main gripes is that some forumites repeat SOME, fail to give enough description of where places are.
For example
Has anyone been to (I will use this place) Green Lake?
Would be great if the post read...."Has anyone been to GreenLake west of Shepparton in Victoria?.
Or
Is anyone going to the Carnival of flowers.?
Is anyone going to the Toowoomba QLD annual Carnival of Flowers held in September?.
Ok, I may get a little bit of flack here but it is much better to over communicate.
Saves happening to go googling same to find out where the places are.

I think you are being unreasonable. This is why posters like me consider leaving a forum after 800 posts over 3 years.
Google " Green Lake near Corop" not Greens
Then you'll find several web sites that call it Green Lake and it's the only Green or Greens lake near Corop.
I can sympathise with Yobarr as to the difficulty reading non punctuated text. Im a volunteer for a mental health organisation and the letters we get from younger people is hard to read.
But if we are that intolerant as to complain about such perfection in posts people will be afraid to post for fear of the moral police picking at their words or in this case -word.
Now, please google "Green Lake near Corop" there is only one town in oz called Corop...oops in Australia! But so many organisations call it Green lake I think this thread is unnecessary and unfriendly.

Eaglemax, your point might be valid if the name used is correct or remotely unique. When it's neither, more information is required. As a Qlder with family in Vic, have never really camped in Vic. Equally, I wouldn't know what or where "greens" is or located.

Apologies to yobarr, the mobile site allows punctuation but not much other formatting.

Yes, good point taken on board but to make a special thread for it??. But I for one didnt know there is multiple Green/s lakes in Oz. Its also about not expecting perfection in people for the sake of a google search.
Too much criticism and insufficient appreciation imo (in my opinion)...I suppose I'll get more grumpy and less sensitive one day

Greens is often referenced as nothing more than Greens. Regulars assume everyone knows it's a lake. As to this thread, every forum I've ever participated has it's own share of threads regarding the forum itself and user habits. Not unusual and certainly not unexpected.

Which ever way you want to spell it, it's a nice place to stay for a while.
