Me, I don't care who owns the rock.
What I don't like is all the tourism development etc. that is there.
If it is so sacred, why don't they leave it alone.
It would be wonderful to see the rock in its natural environment without all the money making rubbish. Just leave it as it was. We can learn all about the indigenous people's culture etc elsewhere if we are interested.

They might get a little more respect if they didn't treat it like Disneyland. All the entry gates, signs, shops, big entrance fee should be done away with.

Gday...
I have read through each response following the original post.
I can only say that I am astounded, surprised, disappointed, ashamed, disgusted, sad, nauseous and quite frankly gobsmacked at some of the opinions expressed here.
I personally find some of the attitudes expressed are incredulous and many of the statements beggar belief. It is clear that many of the comments and attitudes being expressed are formed from mis-information, incorrect information, incomplete information and puffed up with misplaced bias.
If this post is anywhere near representative of even a small percentage of the general Strayan public's attitude and feelings we are in a very sad, sorry and pitiful way.
I am ashamed to think there are overseas 'visitors' to this site that will have read some of the comments and take them as the truth.
Cheers - John
