I travelled with two dogs, one who loved the car and one who would run off into the bush (at home) if he thought I was packing up ready to go in an effort to prevent me going! One thing I found that helped was making it possible for him to hide under his blanket while we were driving. The other thing is that once we were away from home, he started to see the campervan as his secure home! Just persevere, I'm sure his main need is to be with his pack leader (you) and once he realises you won't just abandon him somewhere he'll settle down.

We came back from Melbourne and I think he is pretty good now , maybe 7 out of 10. It can only get better. But , he would not eat or drink , 38 degrees , maybe to hot out of the car.We are very happy now , it was a nightmare before, for him and us . Cheers

Glad to hear that he is getting a bit more used to travelling - Persevere he will eventually be in the car before you.

When I open the drivers door ,he gets in before I do, I can't get it ,maybe he is trying to take over ? He's got to wait a few more years I get a driverless car then ,cheers

The jung man went for his longest drive, 6 hrs with quiet a few stops. He eats and drinks now, still cries a bit but we can put up with that. Most of the time he sits close to us and he is happy then, cheers
I'm happy that he is now travelling without too much duress - I wish I still had my beloved red cattle dog with me, even miss his inevitable farts that he would occasionally let go. He absolutely loved travelling.
