Doug, well done, I'm sure the wife is feeling more confident and comfortable knowing that you are around. She must have been very scared and worried about her husband. I've been fortunate a few times to meet people as nice as you.

I called around to the CVP late this arvo and he had a minor stoke, luckily for them both there is no damage and looks like he will be out Monday. They are both very relieved. Max and Maxine. You could say they are nice people to the max. (Sorry all) I look forward to meeting Max sometime during the week.

I know I'm only repeating what others have said but it's refreshing to know there are a lot of folks who are kind hearted and willing to help others in need.
As I have said many times on this forum, that is the true essence of what being a grey nomad is all about. It's only the minority of travellers and some backpackers that give us all a bad name. Seeing stories like this not only restores faith in the goodness of human nature, but it also makes you want to help others when you can.
It's easier to be nice than nasty.

The incident Weevil refers to is more roundabout than Dougs fine work.
I received an email from someone I knew from a forum who was traveling up Qld way as I recall. He had seen a post from a forum member banged up in Kal hospital and his wife stuck at a camp site out of town a bit asking for help. He knew I had some association with Kal.
I read the post on the forum, a forum I hadn't read for ages.
I phoned my daughter/SIL in Kal to see if they could help and had a positive response.
I then tracked down the man in a jam in Kal hospital that evening and gave him my daughters number.
They subsequently moved his wife and van etc into a Kal CP the following day and made sure she was all set up okay. Followed up the next day as well from what I gather.
The interesting part of all this is the social on line network that allowed all this to happen in a relatively seamless manner. It would have been nearly impossible a few years back.
Its all good.
