Didi..
If your worried about the heat transfer of the roof you could try what I'm planing on doing..
- I plan to paint the Roof with a Thermoshield paint... if I get even 20% of the expected heat saving I will be please.. As I do park in the direct sun.. With the Tropical roof of solar panels to keep 90% of the roof shaded, it's going to be a saving....
At one stage I had a Tropical Roof over my Panel Van main area it worked well.. especially over the winter time...

Hi Didi, don't feel bad about asking questions about anything. Solar Panels are one of those topics that everyone has had various experiences with. The advantage of this forum is that you will find the answers to you questions and that is what makes this forum so good. I still think for your current situation 2 x 80 watt portable panels with cover you for a large percentage of the time. You can always add another panel but you will need to ensure that the regulator is capable of handling the extra capacity.
BTW I have found a place where you can buy the Ctec regulator In Rosebud.
anyway see how it all comes together and don't worry about asking me about stuff, only too pleased to help
regards

Thank you Briche. Really appreciate all your help. I thought about what you were saying about you having both solar on roof and portable (as you do) as being the best solution and I think I may go this way after all. I was looking at a 150w panel for the roof, but can I sit it right to the edge of the roof? And a 120w portable. Do they need to be the same brand? And Would I be best getting a 30w or 20w regulator?
Cheers Didi

Hi Briche. I already have a good battery charger and the Ctec seems to be both charger and regulator? Could you come and look at my regulator and see what I need, when you have some free time? Cheers Didi
