Best big 4 I have stayed at is Hayes Creek south of Darwin. Nothing there but not to be missed

Agree Bryan but I hope we still support the town, it is a small Aussie town after all is said and done.
I'd suggest the businesses that signed probably didn't realise what was going on and probably regret it.
Looks like many locals on FB also want us to keep coming back.

Well, I was just about to renew my Big4 membership. Certainly won't bother now. And yes, I have seen Big4's comments. Too late.

Unfortunately the squeaky wheel get the attention. So the C.P owners will continue to try and undermine the bush / low cost Rv.
We are going to do our own thing and we will use C.P if and when we see fir and suits us.

Yes, don't abandon the town, there are people there who welcome GN's and free camping.
We can't afford the big4 caravan sites (they seem to be more expensive than the others) but we have supported the smaller cheaper ones when we needed to stay in one, there was a place we went to on our trip.. they had a free area in the town and a small caravan park, we stayed at the park for as long as we could then stopped at the free site for a few days it was great, we ate fish n chips from a local business, got our supplies from the iga there and bought fuel... we don't have any extra income than our pension .. when towns are good enough to provide us with a rest stop or cheap place to stay we make sure we spend money in that town its something we can do as a thank you to those places... my parents had a caravan park and not once did they complain or worry about free areas taking away business from them.

sounds like your parents were good people. we do the same as you. probably 70% parks 30% free camping. thing is caravan park owners are not losing income because they were never going to get it anyway.
