Finally Decided to do what I want most to do - to travel around Australia (while I still can!) in a free living style for the most part (only using camps a couple of days a week) so I can get to see as much as possible. But After having researched god knows how many used campervan and motorhomes sites and decided that the ones with the best layout for me would be the avan applause or the avida escape or the sunliner sarina (all same layout actually)..... I find I can't afford them. Nope- not even the used ones.
Not without a loan that is. And the fact I have to give up my job to do this, of course a loan is not possible. Of course I intend to work my way around Australia (qualified in heath/ body therapy/ massage PLUS front of house/ office/retail PLUS teaching qualification...... oh, you get the drift...... gimme a broom I'll use it, if it is paid)- but no job/no loan. Fair 'nuff really. But that means either stay in a job and never travel - cos lets face it the living expenses today are too much to live AND save! And if I did eventually manage to Id probably be so old Id be coughing dust!
OR. Go buy a cheap little campervan that will getme from A to B.- but one with a toilet and shower! And hopefully reliable! Not exactly the best start.
Anyone else had this sort of dillemma? Any advice? Cheers Di

Didi.
have you checked out the market section of the CMCA website? There is a big variety of already fitted out pre-loved rigs there. You may find something you can afford.

hey thanks Sheba. Any info is good info I've realised- after trawling the internet all yesterday that it will take me a while to find the right motorhome at the right price for me- so doubt I will be movingbefore summer. But can anyone tell me- do campsites do cheaper rates in winter or dearer- or same all year round? Cheers

Hi didi - another place to get a shower is a public swimming pool - they usually have showers etc., and often it is only a couple of dollars for a shower - when our bathroom was getting renovated, my husband and son used to go the local pool after work and it only cost them $2 each.

I did that also Jules, particularly up north, had a swim too. I would take a change of smalls and perhaps T shirt in a plastic bag with me and give them a "shower wash) while still wearing them, rinse etc, change into the clean ones after I dried off and when I left hung them up inside my camper to continue the journey, dry by the time I got to my destination....

No doubt you've checked out the trading post - it's moved from a newspaper to online.
As for work - I spent a considerable amount of time in the Kimberleys in year 07 and 08 - most outback towns are begging for people with skills of any kind. Good luck - I hope you get going on the road soon.
