Seems Sugar does not dissolve in Petrol. It can clog the fuel filters but depending on the amount of sugar, it possibly would not stop the motor.
I agree with having a chat with the noisy neighbour about the offending noise. See if it can be resolved with a please and thank you.

one thinks maybe some people just like a winge , fair dinkum a bit of gennnie noise ad some of you will resort to rifle sugar etc, all i can say is reiterarte tommys view point it is a country for all , probally some who winge about gennie noise ,how loud is your telly at night or radio maybe , there has to be a balance people , i will say 99 per cent of gennies arent that bad , its the big old tradie ones which used to be noisy but a bit of a hum ,big deal , you all have to learn to be a little more understanding , big deal if you dont use one ,others will thats their right !! we had a couple beside us for a week early this year ran their honda 2kv every night ,big deal it was barely heard , mine is a bigger kva gennie just as quiet , but this topic and gibberish bs needs to stop it really peeves me as you may have allready guessed

We don't have a genie or solar but run out of water after 4 days. I really find some of the comments in this post disturbing. If you put sugar / bullet or sledge hammer to someone's genie you might be biting off a lot more than you can chew.

I have to put up with the neighbourhood rubbish on a daily basis. If you had to experience what I've experienced over the last 15 years, then you'd feel exactly the same way.
I've had two years of non-stop barking from the dogs next door. That only stopped when the lowlifes moved away. Now I have the constant doof-doof-doof from the subwoofer down the road, plus the yapping from the dozen rodents across my other fence. There is another dog that wakes me up every morning, and barks without intervention from the owner who no doubt sits on his lounge while it's all happening. Every weekend the local aboriginals let off fireworks at 3AM, and this has been going on since about 2000.
There is no place in my house where I can escape from all this crap. That's my reason for wanting to go on the road, not to enjoy the beauty of nature, but to get away from the dregs of humanity who make my life miserable. I certainly don't want to meet this same inconsiderate garbage on my travels.

Just to get this thread in perspective, a forum member recently complained about being annoyed by a person in a neighbouring caravan who decided to take a shower at 4AM. It just goes to show that any noise can be a problem depending on the circumstances.
That said, what upsets me more than anything is not necessarily the noise itself, but the lack of consideration that people have for others. In fact the two maddening dogs that I referred to previously have now been replaced by a dog that sometimes howls when the new neighbour is away from home. It is a little annoying, but not to the point where I would complain about it. I was therefore very surprised when the neighbour knocked on my door to apologise for the noise and promised to do something about it. Apparently some shift worker several houses away had left a letter of complaint in her mailbox. I can tell you now that, after the woman's visit, the noise instantly became more bearable. Contrast this attitude to those in this thread who have expressed complete contempt for the comfort and wellbeing of their fellow travellers.

Actually it's people with this attitude who create the problems on the road, no thought for others just me me me. This country doesn't belong to us, we are the custodians of it for a short while and are failing miserably by present indications. Sadly a growing number love the idea of turning the bush into the urban polluted, noisy, smelly squalor they are used to and destroy it as fast as they can, by ignoring the abience of nature so they can feel comfortably with never ending noise, pollution and be in their normal element.
You can always tell where people with generators camp, they are also the ones who make the most noise, leave the most rubbish, chop down trees for their stupid fires and generally make a nuisance of themselves for others, with their never ending noise and pollution. There is no such thing as a quiet generator, they are smelly, noisy, heavily pollute the air and environment with their destructive emissions. But that doesn't matter, those claiming theirs are quiet, are basically deaf from spending their entire live is never ending noise, so noise is all they can handle. Take them out in the real bush without their polluting junk and wasteful crap they all carry, they crack up within the day and can't handle it. Seen this many times and always get a good laugh out of it.
Camps without generators, are always quiet and peaceful, people appreciate and enjoy the sound of nature and if you have a functioning logical thinking brain, always relaxes you. They keep whatever noise they make inside, pretty hilarious this claiming the TV radio or music will disturb them. That would be true if your only experience in life is never ending noise, so they need to have things turned up full bore, so they can hear them.
Real people don't suffer from environment deafness as urban people do, so don't require high volumes to hear and appreciate media. Most urban people are so deaf, they never hear anything in the bush, so need lots of noise and pollution smells to feel comfortable, pretty strange approach to life really. Which is another reason we steer well clear of the terrorists (van tourist) trails and their never ending noise and pollution they distribute every where they go.

Well this has made a lot of interesting reading.
First Dorian its nobody's problem where you make your house your home if you do nothing but complain about your neighborhood it may be time to move.
Secondly we have never once used our genny on the road we stay in caravan parks due to medical reasons close to hospitals but I can assure you all that of I ever do get to have to use it I will,we also have solar and back up batteries,
There maybe many reasons why people have to use their genies so there seems to be many nomads oit there who are inconsiderate to these people. It also seems that a lot of grey nomads need to get their act into gear with all the mess they leave behind in Parks,side of roads which we saw coming back from the top end there's mention of this happening in some of the posts written here.
And yes we don't own this country its here for all to enjoy and respect with good health or poor health so when you hear a genny running day /night it may be for a reason and I'm quite sure that the person would notify their neighbors its called etiquette which seems to be missing from some people on this post.
As I said previously I will use my genny when I want to and some people are right in writing that some need to grow up, also you maybe in the same predicament as some of us one day.

Wow what a stupid thing to say lumping all people with generators in that group. You are the sort we dont want on the road. Self rightous, its all about me ect. We come off a farming property, had been all our lives down near the Otways, yea thats forest if you dont know, so we are well aquianted with the bush. I am also a zoologist, thats animals and wildlife if you didnt know. We live on the road because we love the life now. We have a genny which is very quiet. No im not deaf, ive never lived in a noisy place. I detest noise. I can sit near mine and read a book so clearly you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to some gennys. We dont chop trees or leave rubish. I am also of indiginous blood so i know more than most about caring for the land that belongs to US and the damage that has been done. Doesnt mean i cant or wont enjoy it. We hardly use our genny as we have ample solar, but it is used if we have to for a short time.

Your the ones not showing consideration for somebody that might need to use it, esp for medical reason. They have just as much right to a life of the road as you. Put it this way for you consideration of course. We have $1200 worth of batteries in our rig that the solar power up. If they get run down too far due to a week of bad weather it can damage them, then we have the spend money to replace them. Of course im going to run the genny for a few hours to recharge. Are you going to buy me new batteries just because i bothered you with 4 hours out of 24 with a genny you wont hardly here under my truck? Even if somebody complains, im still going to save my batteries. Why should i have to go to a caravan park to recharge. I like the freedom.
Heres a tip for you. Dont park near me in summer if its hot. I will be running my genny for the aircon as i have 2 birds who travel with us and one can not regulate his body temp in hot weather. Now sorry, but he means more to me than you and your comfort do, so my genny will run so he stays comfortable and alive. Now if thats inconsiderate then tuff. The road to I give f--k is the other way. I suggest you take it. I consider myself a considerate person within means, but the more people i run into on forums and on the road the more i realise there are just as many *******s out there as there are in home life such as Dorian was grumping about. Living on the road does not fix all your problems. It just gives you the freedom to move if you dont like your neighbourghs at camp. I suggest more of you do that, and less complaining and causing trouble. MOVE.
