A suggestion if I may, make a rule...No idle post number building, wombat bashing chit chat on the thread or the pages will quickly blow out of control and hints will be impossible to find.
Good idea but don't know how to make a Rule. I also participate in "Pick This Place" in the General Forum. Don't get too much, if any, irrelevant chit chat. Let's wait and see what happens.
Not Bud Abbot & Lou Costello Kandagal..
Yes it is Laurel & Hardy Bryan. Dorian just spelt out their real names.
I'd like to mention that even though I set this Topic up, I don't want to be the "Boss" of it. It should run itself, and I think we are all mature enough to let that happen.
C'mon Dorian, who are you going to post ?

Sorry, I can't make any of my browsers (Firefox or Opera) work with this forum software in respect of attachments (I don't want to "upgrade", either). Instead I tried to link to a photo, but every photo has the person's name in the URL.
No, sorry Gerty. Heading in the right direction though.

Over to someone else ...
Can't understand why those two browsers wont work !! With the photo, find the file, right click on it and select "Rename". Type in a new name then upload the photo. After that, rename the file back to it's original name.. If you run your mouse over the photo I just posted, it will show someone.jpg. I nearly got caught out in "Pick This Place". I posted a photo and Gerty told me the name showed up under the mouse, so I was able to change the photo.

Is that Red Adair, BG? Put fires out in oil rigs and wells?
ps - just a thought, maybe when someone gets the answer, some sort of explanation of what the person is famous for (if not totally obvious) would be good - i.e. - Edmund Barton, first Prime Minister of Australia.

Not Red Adair, Jules !!
Yeah, that's a good idea. Brief description of the person/s in the photograph by either the GN posting when announcing the winner or the GN guessing who the person is. Like you did with Red Adair..

Yes Gary, that's him. A very funny man and "Rude" as well. He was doing a show in Esperance recently and was staying at Comfort Inn which my son runs. The full photo is of Rodney, my son and the Hotel Manager, but I cropped it down. I must admit I didn't know who it was when my son sent the photo. Your turn Gary...

Thanks, BG. And now, ladies and gentlemen, to celebrate my 2000th post may I present my Who Is This photo? Who's the student on the left shaking hands with JFK? And don't look at the title of the photo cos I changed the name, neh, neh, neh, neh, neeeeh, neh.
For some reason the student seems to be a very young Bill Clinton ??
Cheers - John

Another very extraordinary woman .. but not Marie.
This woman is Australian born, schooled and bred. Took up what could be called her vocation in the early 1900s.

I guess this will generate much Google activity - she is an Australian botanical illustrator, anthropologist, gardener, and activist for aboriginal rights.

Pink spent much of her life agitating and being a passionate advocate for improved rights and conditions for Australian aborigines. She never married, having lost a 'very dear friend' Captain Harold Southern who was killed at Gallipoli in 1915. In her later years, Pink concentrated on botanical pursuits and established the currently named Olive Pink Botanic Garden in Alice Springs.
