Another point to consider is that a 15 amp lead will not pass and be tagged unless it has the plastic rim on the end attached to the caravan. The caravan therefore needs an inlet point which accepts this. Despite our van being only 6 months old the inlet does not have this provision. This is something we will take up with the manufacturer next service time.

Interesting thread! Dont understand most of it but if the lead worrys you go buy a new one! they are not that expensive anymore. I carry 3 almost new ones of varying lengths and dont even think about it. I do feel tho they should be replaced every couple of years or when ANY damage is evident

This was your post that prompted the digression into the operation of ELCBs ("safety switches" to us mere mortals) that you now seem to be complaining about. The statement has been challenged by others, a couple of whom are well qualified to do so. In doing so the discussion has been respectful and no one has resorted to calling others stupid or to using intemperate language such as "who's up their own arse" other than you.
No one is disputing the need for an extension lead to be in good serviceable condition, nor your reminding us to regularly check our leads to ensure this is so.
