Hello folks!
Pic is from Indi Bridge where we free camped for the very first time with our generator. It was such a beautiful spot & we enjoyed it so much that we now want more free camping & have just added a 200W solar panel & a 120AH battery. Looking forward to our next trip in Oct/Nov.
First of all let me welcome you to this website mate

Before you know it will be October so you can go again

We had the place to ourselves which was even better. Looking forward to a different spot in October, so will be sure to report on it then, unless we sneak off for a weekend somewhere in between a bit closer to home.
Morning nomads just a couple of pics of our new set up.Isuzu npr 65/190 amt crew cab,1800x1800 steel gullwing box,fridge slide,generator slide plus heaps of storage on shelf.We had a LC 200 before but found we were always right up there on weight for prospecting and general freedom camping.So far only 1 trip 500ks north of perth as I still work driving a road train to fund my caravanning. Safe travels regards Trevor
Very neat, probably better that most "professional" builds. Do you intend on adding an awning?

Hi All I dont know where this rig is these days or even if it is still surviving but I owned it nearly 40 years ago for a short time. The Strange Rover as it was christened by many was built from a rolled Range Rover by a skilled instrument maker Stan Tough of Tough Instruments in Perth for his retirement lap over many years by his engineers and apprentices when things got slow at his instrument making business. I purchased it after yet another sad story of leaving your plans for travelling too late as relatively shortly into his planned big lap after a delayed retirement poor Stan had a medical incident on the road and died. This spectacular piece of selectable 6 wheel drive engineering languished in Port Hedland as an on site van for several years before the owner who had purchased it from his distressed widow finally secured a house to live in. Due to its strange persona and technical complexity the owner found great difficulty back then getting decent money for it in what was then a wild north west town like Port Hedland and as a young man in Perth I saw the advert which looked way too cheap and took a punt and purchased it sight unseen. I flew up there for 2 cartons of beer with a mate who was an airline pilot in the engineers seat ( imagine that these days!) and got it going after 2 years. once jump started I did a routine service of oils and filters and drove it back to Perth in the tail end of a cyclone. That was another adventure in itself! I intended to use it to do a lap myself but as a young man earning a living and breaking up with a girlfriend got in the road and after a few trips around south west of WA and living in it on a small hobby farm for a few months I sold it to a prospector (for a serious profit) who had mining claims out the back of Coolgardie. For years after this occasionally people would report back to me about having seen the Strange Rover in the middle of nowhere. I wonder if its still out the haunting the diggings as it was a technical masterpiece. Just a blast from the past.

Car is a JBA falcon tourer 2001. Had v6 holden 5 speed manual.

This is the Auto -Trail Delaware S loline 2019 model
Easy to drive & drives beautifully.
It is comfortable, well designed, lots of storage, lots of extras including washing machine, ducted heating, 2 x TVs smart and one with built in DVD player, UHF radio, Separated shower and toilet, Privacy door plus all the standard things all vans and motorhomes have.
This is our rig, 1996 civilian td42, has the lot bus and trailer will soon be on the market for sale
engineered for a car licence 4495kg and 3 ton towing in NSW
