Further to my earlier reply, when I lift my poptop, I have a couple of boards so I can store things between the solid roof (there is a rail along each side) and the roof. I have heard that people actually arrange a bed in this space but my arthritis would make it difficult to access! What this does mean is that when traveling, the floorspace is very limited but I can clear it quickly by moving it up out of the way. I only store things at the back third, leaving full headroom in the main part of the van. Living is a bit cramped overall but having sailed a bit on yachts, I am used to 'compact living'.

Hi Colls
You sure tried a lot of options. I personally like my camper van it suits me well. and this sort of travelling does mean going without some of the luxuries, but it sure is a whole lot of fun.

Loki, I have the board like that too but only at the back. If its cut to fit just behind the hooks that hold the pop top down, it can be left up there. I don't have to take mine down at all. A lovely man at Bunnings Echuca cut it to fit.
It is so handy, as soon as I put my pop top up I fill it up with all the things I need on a regular basis. Just have to be careful not to hit my head on it after using the kitchen sink.
Think I might get one for the front as well when I'm next down in Echuca.
I don't think I would like to sleep up there, would be very uncomfortable.

I thought the bed up under the pop top was mainly for kids?

Yes Janette, would have to be for someone very small.
