Thanks HeadnHome! In this day and age of computers and the ever-present Facebook, not only did I hear from family and local friends on my birthday, but I also heard from many friends, old and new, including your lovely self, from all over Oz! It really made my special day so very extra special! And yes, that chocolate cake and scones are very yummy!!! I'll have to have me some more of them!

I cooked a minestrone soup in my shuttle chef yesterday.
I think I added too many beans!
Ah well I can always have it on toast for breakfast!

That's right! Actually, Jim, I cooked a Beef and Vegetable soup in my slow cooker overnight last night, but put just a tad too much dried soup mix (like split peas) in it. It's a very thick soup this morning, but oh, so tasty! I had some for my breakfast this morning - who said we have to conform!

I've taken some of the been (spelt correctly) soup out and added a bit of chilli paste and some mince meat.... voila! Chilli con Carne!

Hehe! Your poor partner! My hubby used to be very 'gas efficient' after a few ales - when he drank beer years ago. He's now a rum and coke man (beer makes him nauseous for some reason) , and the effect isn't the same - thank goodness!

Hey goinsoon,
gst means two separate dishes. The dream pot is great for cooking corned beef in - with a chopped onion (or no onion), and one or two bottles of ginger ale or lemonade instead of water. The Dream Pot recipe is different, but my recipe is simpler and with less ingredients. It tastes just as nice though. Delicious! The coco cola chicken is equally as delicious - just 12 chicken legs or wings, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 4 tabs brown sugar, 2 teasps French mustard, 4 shallots. Bring to boil all the liquids first in the large inner pot, without the chicken, then add the chicken, return to boil sitrring occas. Lower heat, and simmer for 10 minutes with the lid on. Transfer the inner pot to the Dream Pot, and leave for 1 hour minimum to cook in retained heat. I have put this on at lunch time, and dinner's already cooked and still nice and hot when we pull up for the night! Doesn't interfere with Happy Hour either!

I have also used DIET softdrink with the corned beef, goinsoon, and thrown in a few whole potatoes as well, if there's enough room around the meat. The potatoes are cooked completely by dinner time, and they have never fallen apart! (Top up the inner pot with more softdrink to cover as much as possible. ) Good luck!

Spent 4 hours at the local caravan and camping show. I am very tempted by the EcoPot, thermal cooker (similar to Dream Pot but it wasn't on offer at his show!). Anyone ever used one? I love my handmade soups and casseroles- let alone the lovely idea of cooking for 10 or so minutes in the morning and then letting the rest go the distance in the insulated pots etc!)
it seems that those that have a dream pot loev their dream pot and those that have a Ecopot love their Ecopot! I have 48 hours to make up my mind before this show closes!

Love my Dream Pot, Michelle! You don't think anything's going to be cooked properly just before you take the lid off after the recipe time has elapsed, but it's a lovely surprise every time you do - because it's cooked beautifully! I imagine the Eco Pot would be the same. There's a few others out there too, but I came across the Dream pot first, so bought it. I'm sure whichever you choose it will be really good. Have fun with it and if you'd like to swap thermal recipes, I'm keen.

I have decided to go ahead with the Eco Pot. I have thoroughly researched it and the various options, with very few exceptions, those that have a Dream pot love it same as those who have an EcoPot. The Aldi's one rates high too especially in the price comparisons but I am too impatient to wait for when it may come back - the most reports were dated 2009!!! There are cheaper versions available on ebay and most of the complaints were against these. So I am off back to the camping show to get my EcoPot. I just found out after I posted the same question on my Facebook page that my sister-in-law has the DreamPot and we can swap recipe books as well a recipes! Fancy me not knowing as we camp with the sometimes! even did a trip to SA for 3 weeks a couple of years back - just goes to show I don' know everything! LOL Eventually I will be back with recipes! I reckon I can do most of my croquettes recipe in the EcoPot too... might be to good on the waist line though! {Huge big smile}

Have lots of fun with your eco pot, Michelle. And as for the waist line, well, if you enjoy your croquettes, have them. Who knows - you might even be able to devise a healthier way of having them with your eco pot. I would love to see what you come up with.

Hi I am new to all this but excited to have retired and anxious to get going asap.
I have a dreampot had it for years and not used it. Just now have tried 2 recipes. Both had good flavour but were only warm.
Any ideas what I am doing that it is not hot enough. Followed Dreampot recipe book to the letter !!
Have retired from career cooking so am not useless. The only thing I could think of would be to prime the outer pot with boiling water a few times. Not tried that as told not to do it !
Thanks for your info. I am already finding the site very informative.
Happy Birthday Romy,
Cheers,
Sheba.
Thanks Sheba! I had a really lovely day! xo
