Don't know that duration would worry us Basil. We will just take it a day at a time and see what happens.

If you go up to the Whispering Wall then nearby at Williamstown is a man who carves rocking horses of world renown. Hand carved, then wrapped in silk, animal glue and crushed marble mixed together over that. Will cost you $5000.00 to buy one for the grand kids. He will welcome you but dont dare touch one until you have payed!

Sorry Basil.Convoy is not for me.Cheers.Ibbo.
You don't have to travel with anyone Ibbo. Get there and leave on your own if you wish. Just get there and enjoy everyone's company while you are there!!
The same goes for others that don't wish to travel in a convoy. Just turn up when the schedule is produced!!

In today's paper there is an article on the condition of the roads on the island. $3M is needed to fix roads up and they are considering a $10 per adult tax (?) to pay for it. I go over regularly for work and some of the dirt roads are pretty bad but the black top appears to be OK to me.

the bituman road on the eastern end is find but the end down near the flinders chase national park is breaking up, the roads of the interior are absolutely shocking with marbles of various sizes and washboard stretches that destroy suspensions in weeks, but if you wish to see things like Clifford's honey farm, the Marron farm and the eucalyptus factory, cape borda lighthouse was a dissapointment for me, you may view the lighthouse at a distance but if you wish to get close then pay the man! but if you wish to see the attractions, and there are plenty then these must be traversed
we just drive to the conditions which in some places mean 10 kph per hour, there is no free camping on the isle but it is well catered for with low cost camps and good c/parks
we do this trip every year and wouldnt miss it for quids

Just because you CHOSE to lock yourself in that Porta-loo and then try to blame me, is no reason to have that sort of attitude!

I was wondering who the Aussie Baby Boomers were, I have just found out, a general interest group in that age range of like minded individuals. From what I have read, most of them belong to this RV forum as well, and it is not in competition with it, just another complimentary avenue to explore ! Well done to you all! For anyone who like me didn't know what everyone was talking about, see their link;
