Great to see that I've finally got you working for it a bit BG.
Not Al Downing.
I think that Al Downing only ever made 2 home runs in his professional career, but he was certainly involved in a beauty as he was, in 1974, the pitcher who delivered the ball to Hank Aaron that gave him his 715th home run, thus breaking Babe Ruth's record which had stood since 1935.
Aaron hit a total of 755 career home runs before retiring in 1976, a record which was not beaten until 2007, over 30 years later.

Nah...Buck O'neil died in 2006, our guy is still alive....Although he may not be by the time you guys get his name..
O'neil really only played in the Negro league, and whilst our guy started there, he progressed through minor league to the major league
O'neil was in the Navy, our guy was in the Army.
O'neil retired in 1955...I did mention that our guy hit over 60 home runs in the 1963-4 season.

That's OK Sheba. No point making them too easy.
A few more clues.
Our guy's very first hit in major league was a home run.
He once played with Joe DiMaggio who famously eloped with Marilyn Munroe in 1954.
He has also featured in the "peanuts" comic strips.
The band "widespread panic" mentioned him in one of their songs.
John Fogarty mentioned him in one of his songs, as did Terry Cashman, Bob Dylan, Gil Scott-Heron and Charles Prophet in songs of theirs.
He has been associated with both George W Bush and Barack Obama.

Finally....
Good work Bryan.
I did tell you his name - albeit a bit cryptically back here..

He is generally considered to be the best all round baseball player of all time with a career batting average of 0.302 and 660 home runs and his outfield "putout" record of 7,095 still stands as does his extra innings HR total of 22.
He is the only MLB player to have hit a home run in every innings from 1st to 16th.
He was commonly known as "the say hey kid", the Trenniers wrote a song about him....but I wasn't going to give that clue just yet.
Your turn Bryan...Go for it.

Geez....I gave the clue so that I wouldn't have to post another pic..
No..Our bloke was born about 20 years later, and was still alive in the 20th century. R.L.Stevenson died in 1894 at just 44 years of age.
Our bloke served in the British secret service during WW1 under Captain Smith-Cumming who used to sign his documents simply "C" which was the inspiration behind Ian Fleming's "M" in his James bond novels

No, it's not the famous lady from Burma...
Hi All, would it be Imelda Marcos?
Looks more like Kim Yong's Southern nemesis.

Good job BG.
Put one up for us.
Try this one...
What nationality is he, and what field is he in?
Australian. He was born on an island off the coast of the Northern Territory. He is an Inventor.
Is it at all possible that the device he has his hand on might be something to do with an invention of his?
Not sure ! Looks a bit small for what he actually invented. In fact he invented two significant items and they are usually used together...
Brian thanks for the tip on this one but didn't need it this time.Know who he is and where born but not going to answer till I learn how to post pics
Cheers
