This chap was best known by just one letter for his last name.
His autobiography was published shortly after his untimely death and was considered to be one of the 20th century's most influential non-fiction books.
MalcolmX (/mćlkmks/; May19, 1925 February21, 1965), born Malcolm Little and also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz[A] (Arabic: ), was an African-American Muslim minister and a human rights activist. To his admirers he was a courageous advocate for the rights of blacks, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans; detractors accused him of preaching racism and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history.
MalcolmX was effectively orphaned early in life. His father was killed when he was six and his mother was placed in a mental hospital when he was thirteen, after which he lived in a series of foster homes.
In 1946, at age 20, he went to prison for larceny and breaking and entering. While in prison he became a member of the Nation of Islam, and after his parole in 1952 quickly rose to become one of its leaders. For a dozen years he was the public face of the controversial group; in keeping with the Nation's teachings he espoused black supremacy, advocated the separation of black and white Americans and scoffed at the civil rights movement's emphasis on integration.
By March 1964 Malcolm X had grown disillusioned with the Nation of Islam and its head Elijah Muhammad, and ultimately repudiated the Nation and its teachings. He embraced Sunni Islam and, after a period of travel in Africa and the Middle East, returned to the United States to found Muslim Mosque, Inc. and the Organization of Afro-American Unity. While continuing to emphasize Pan-Africanism, black self-determination, and black self-defense, he disavowed racism, saying, "I did many things as a [Black] Muslim that I'm sorry for now. I was a zombie then... pointed in a certain direction and told to march".[1]
In February 1965, shortly after repudiating the Nation of Islam, he was assassinated by three of its members. The Autobiography of Malcolm X, published shortly after his death, is considered one of the most influential nonfiction books of the 20th century.
I think he was one of Australia's early Politicians...

Maybe he had something to do with early caravans.
He looks like a very frugal man, and travel being so expensive in those days, I am sure that wherever he went, it was worth it.

Sir John Grey Gorton was our 19th Prime minister, and the only one to have come from the senatorial ranks.
As with most politicians, he was a bastard, but this one literally was one
During WW2 he qualified as a pilot in Spitfires but was stationed in a Hurricane squadron
His odd facial features in later life were due to a crash landing that went wrong on Bintan island near Singapore where he broke his nose and both cheek bones.
After being rescued he was being evacuated from Singapore (which had now fallen to the Japanese) by surface vessel when the ship was torpedoed, he spent some time in a life boat before being rescued yet again.
He ended up back in Australia where he had another forced landing flying a P40 Warhawk due to fuel problems.
He later had an engine failure on takeoff in an A29 Kittyhawk which caused the aircraft to flip over.
He was sent to Austin Hospital in Melbourne for facial reconstruction which, as we all know, was not a total success.
He began his political career in the Country party but entered the senate as a Liberal party member, became Minister for the Navy in 1958.
After PM Harold Holt disappeared in 1967, and due to a dispute between Liberal leader billy McMahon and CP leader John McEwan, Gorton was elected Leader of the coalition and became Prime Minister.
He performed poorly in public appearances and debating, especially against Labour leader Whitlam.
His affair with his secretary Ainsley Gotto did not sit well with a staid public.
He was challenged for the leadership by McMahon in 1971, held a caucus confidence vote which was tied, he decided that this was not good enough to allow him to remain the leader and so resigned.
He was knighted in 1977, had a few other high awards and remained a colourful political figure until his death on 19th May 2002.
Try this one.

Now tell me who this is.
Willie Randolph
Right game.
Wrong guy.
Our guy was an earlier generation than Randolph, but he did have something in common.
Our bloke was born a bit more than 10 years after Robinson, and is still living.
They were both drafted into the army, although at different times and during different wars.
Neither saw combat action.
Our bloke scored around 5 times more home runs from about twice as many hits than did Robinson.
Jack
I did say that our guy is still alive...Bob Trice died in the 80's and had only around 30 career home runs, he was a damned good Pitcher though.
Our guy hit more than twice that many in the 1963-4 season alone.
Al Downing
