Brian - don't think so - was a solo performer as far as I knew.
And BG - really??????!!!!!!!!!
Merv Benton's main support group was the Tamlas...Of which Les Stacpoole was the lead Guitarist, previously with Johnny Chester and the Chessmen.

Wilbert Harrison (January 5, 1929 October 26, 1994) was an American rhythm and blues singer, pianist, guitarist and harmonica player.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harrison had a Billboard #1 record in 1959 with the song Kansas City. Actually that song didn't work for him but it did for Bryan Ferry.. My message (Clue) this morning was going to be " When this entertainer had his one big hit, I'm not sure where he was in the U. S. but I did hear he was going to Kansas City" Not a gold plated clue but certainly a CHROME plated one !!!
