Would it be Parachilna in the Flinders Rangers SA, or - Coober Pedy, SA.

Not quite, but you are close, Thommo. Perhaps its not well known as its on a road that is unsealed, and most caravanners would take the black-top.

Hmmm.... Looks like nobody has been on the Oodnadatta Track? This "sculpture", one of several is made from an old water tank, (which used to be used for the Old Ghan Railway) for the body, and a car for the head!
Fascinating country, but rather ordinary road! The Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta is famous for its Oodnaburgers, theres mound springs, the edge of Lake Eyre (Empty when we were there) several ruins of old farms/railway settlements... including Curdimurka, where theres nothing left but a falling-down railway Station, and they hold a Ball there annually attended by thousands of people!!!
I've found a pic that I hope will be more recognisable....
I like the look of the place & it looks a little like a couple of places we have seen but.. not quite...will have to leave it up to someone a little more travelled than us
Cheers Jon

I've PM'd you Rosie. I found the name, but it wouldn't be fair to say.
Cheers, Sheba.

It looks like an amazing place but I don't know if I'd like to tackle all those steps..........it certainly would keep me fit, but I did notice a car on the road by the beach so that looks like the easiest access.
After all that I have no idea where it is......maybe WA somewhere?

No Gilly, a long way East and South of WA.
Yes, good access, little cars and big caravans come there.... and thats me at the bottom of the steps, too many for me!

I was born in Tassie but havn't been there since I was 6yo so unluckily my memory isn't that good.
We'll get back there some day but for now taking a caravan across by the ferry is way out of our price range.
One day the Tasmanian tourist industry may use there brains & do something about the axorbitant fees to get more nomads visiting.
Cheers Jon

Neck Beach on Bruny Island?
Gerty Dancer said
08:57 PM Jan 4, 2011
Yes, thats it! Loved it there, huge camp ground, so many things to see/do. One of the few times we had a signal with our Optus phone in Tas was on the Bruny Island ferry!
Sorry, I thought that one would have been familiar to more people, I've seen a similar photo on a calendar, also on somebody's blog... but then some forum members arent able to log in very often and wouldnt be able to reply to guesses.
Over to you Nicholstones!
PS, I agree about the ferry fares, think we'll take the tent if/when we go again.

Thought this was clever for a loo in the back of a garden shop, in a small town in W.A (sorry for the edits and large picture. transferred all my photo's onto an external hard drive and now having problems)
