G'day thanks to your clue I think I may have found her. Is she a painting by John William Goddard? I cannot find a name but it is titled "Contemplation" and dated 1903.
Cheers

Not according to Paul, Jack.
How about Helen of Troy ?
Still not sure if you're meaning the Models' real name, or who she's representing in the Painting.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Nope, she was a poet several hundred years BC. I am beginning to get nervous that I have got it wrong!!! Bed time. Cya all tomorrow.
[edit: to be perfectly factual, she is a model used by John William Godward in his depictions of the poet Sappho. Therefore, the above is technically incorrect - I have found no information to identify the ACTUAL woman in the photo]

Gday...
I know that Paul is looking for a name of the PERSON in the photo submitted. However, technically the painting is of a model used by John William Godward to depict Sappho - he painted a number of "Sappho" paintings (apparently using this same model). As I stated previously, I am unable to find the name of the model - perhaps others may be more resourceful and successful.
Having now read back through all the submitted 'answers', I do think, that given the pic submitted is a PHOTO of a PAINTING, Jack was the first to be 'correct'. In support of that, I offer the following -
The 'game' is Who Is This - I think it had been basically agreed that photos would be of "known" people. A photo of a painting (portrait) of a person I think would be admissible. However, a photo of a painting of a model who is a representation (artist's impression) of someone famous is on the borderline.
I therefore suggest Jack (ballast2) was correct - identifying the painting (which is what the photo was).
Over to that referee again
Cheers - John
