Hereabouts, down Mandurah WA way, the rain has slowed down for now. Winter at last but no big wind, hail or thunderstorms today as were forecast. Looks like we'll be getting the odd shower pretty much all week, with a good shot Tues night/Wed morning. We could do with all we can get right now. Send 'er down Huey!

Helloooo everyone,
Since leaving Birdsville on 07-07-17 it has become very cold at night along the dirt tracks of Strzelecki and Walkers Crossing and up through INNAMINCIA to the 'old Shearing Shed' at Cordillo Downs. From there I headed my trusty 1996 4X4 Toyota Hilux traytop with an 'Active Slide-on Camper" into Cameron's Corner and onto TIBOOBURRA. Temps were between -1 and zero most nights so BIG FIRES & layering up was the GO!! All the dirt roads I travelled on were surprisingly in good condition!
Then heading through Wanadaring into Bourke via the 'Silver City Highway & onto Cobar the o/n temp were still between -1 to 0. It was so cold it froze my brother's dog's water dish solid. As I moved further south the weather seemed to warm slightly, it was a surprising 4 degrees over night last night at a bush camp 137 km south of Broken Hill.
The following morning again heading further south I passed through the small town of Wentworth, there both the Darling & Murray Rivers meet near the Victoria border so one minute your in NSW and the next your in Vic. I stocked up at Woolworths in Mildura only to findabout half an hourlater heading west I passed through the SA Border Inspection Station. ThereIhad to hand over my newly stockpiled treats of fresh fruit & vegetables!!! The first I had seen in almost 10 days (A costly and valuable lesson learnt here I can assure you!!)
Today after passing back and forth through the various time zones of NSW, VIC & SA I've found a great o/n Council run Bush Camp by a river near Berri SA Temputures here are milder at least, but as I head into Adelaide tomorrow to visit family they have warned me to expect very wet & cold weather!! So out comes the woolies again (for the next 2 weeks at least before I head back to QLD for the rest of the winter.....
Take care from Gwynnie @ matildatraveller (the story teller!)
Well it's 41 (feels like 32) here today. Only problem is that's Fahrenheit, not Celsius.
Had similar experiences up around Broken Hill, Mildura where the esky froze. Left the lid off the esky one night with all the cans of drink just sitting in the melted ice. Next morning it was just one solid block off ice with all the beer embedded in the ice. Never thawed out all day.

There's no end in sight to the wet weather for WA with more cold fronts expected to bring heavy rain and possible hail over the next few days.
A front dumped 42.2 millimetres of rain on Perth yesterday and overnight, with more rain and strong winds on the way.
"We're expecting another [cold front] to come through on Saturday and another one on Sunday."
Perth will see a top of 14 degrees today, increasing to 16 degrees on Thursday and 19 degrees on Friday.
WA's drought-stressed Wheatbelt also saw some rain relief, with Cunderdin getting 25.8 millimetres and Southern Cross 8.2 millimetres overnight.
There are marine gale warnings in place for the Geraldton, Esperance and Eucla coasts today, while the metro, Gascoyne, Bunbury and Albany coasts are subject to strong wind warnings.
Main Roads have advised drivers to switch on headlights, ensure a safe braking distance and to allow extra time as conditions become slippery amid the deluge.
Take care out there People !!
