i was reading the paper yesterday and read an article regarding the vegan activists . I noticed a placard held by one protestor it had the website watchdominion.com on it out of curiousity I had a look at a video on the site. I was saddened by the content as it shows how money rules human compassion. My wife and I were dairy farmers in our past lives and we ran our farm commercially , but always treated our animals with compassion. Big commercial farms have lost touch with the fact these animals feel as do humans. People were up in arms enmasse when export animals were treated inhumanely , we should once again feel the same here in Aust , but large commercial concerns and govt depts seem to push it under the carpet . I'm not a vegan by any stretch of the imagination but I totally support these people bringing this reality to public awareness.

I can see this post getting some attention.... Well I for one absolutely disagree with the tactic of disrupting a city for their cause, they could have had their demonstration utilizing the police liaison and planning the event but no, the careless and arrogant decided to create havoc. These same people have raided restaurants and frightened and annoyed owners and patrons trying to push THEIR views onto others. I have seen the mistreatment of animals and I dislike it immensely, it should be curtailed, demonstrations like theirs does not help their cause.
These same people trespass and raid innocent, law abiding farms and have caused a lot of disruption. And I dare say a lot of them are on the dole or "students". Get a job!

I watched a video last week on facebook that these so called Vegan activists had posted of themselves tresspassing on a farm, intimidating the owners, stealing livestock, jamming them in the back of mummy dears nice new Jeep GC and driving off with them. I would no more visit one of their websites than I would any other extremist group trying to force their personal points of view onto everyone else. Vince the young girls in the video didn't look like dole bludgers to me mainly because on welfare they wouldn't have been able to afford the leather boots that they were wearing. More like poor little rich kids with nothing better to do in life than interrupting law abiding citizens going about their normal business.

one young lady that was involved in the goat café closures was on facebook crying that her life was in shambles and she was living in fear because she was being stalked for her involvement ( note: she was charged) two wrongs don't make a right but what did she expect to happen when they did something like that then plaster it all over social media

The big problem with these vegan terrorists is that they try to imply that mishandling of animals is industry wide. I believe that the big majority of farms care for their animals and it is just a few cowboys or something taken out of context. It is easy to pick and choose from an interview or video to support a particular train of thoughts. These terrorists want to force their views on all of society. So don't get taken in by extremist propaganda. After all wasn't it Goebbels who said that if you keep saying the same thing over and over people will believe it is true. I wonder how any of the above posters would react if when sitting down to a meat meal there caravan/home gets suddenly invaded by these people?

Annoying the majority of the population has not helped the vegan cause. And I still don't know exactly want they want. If they want everyone to be vegan, then that is just silly. If they want an increase in animal welfare, then I am all for that. Causing distress to hard working and already drought stressed farmers has not gained them anything good.

Why pick on farmers ? Most look after their animals . Ok the dairy industry sends male bull calves to the works after 7 or so days . They cannot keep every calf born
. Sooner or latter someone is going to get hurt or more . What some of these people do is actually cause animal cruelty themselves to film and show Medea . Ok things happen when you rear 1000 cows or pics, chickens etc These people have no idea of animal husbandry!! They want farms and businesses to close down !! Seems we can all live off Centrelink.,

What penalty did they receive for the illegal harrasment of staff, tresspassing, breaking bio security laws and stealing livestock a paltry $1 fine ... A bigot is someone who is intolerant of someone else's beliefs, ethnicity etc. I am not at all intolerant of these people's beliefs they can eat anything they like, protest all day long if they want to - what I am intolerant of is when they break the law by illegally harassing and bullying others who are trying to go about their normal business.
Vegans would do well to remember that plants have feelings too...

The facebook video that the cafe owners posted of this stunt received thousands of responses and from what I read they were running at least 20 to 1 against the protestors. What was interesting was that no one was actually addressing animal cruelty which was supposedly the point of the excercise they were in the main attacking this groups actions. The reputations of organisations who are legitimately fighting for animal welfare are also being damaged and they are going to find it harder and harder to gain the financial support that they need to survive.

Couldn't agree more. If their agenda is seriously about animal welfare then they need a major re-think about their methods. Intentionally creating chaos and ruining livelihoods is not the way to do it and such extremism can't be justified as a credible or effective method of raising public awareness. The betterment of animal welfare with a specific focus on animal mistreatment is one of our key passions and the credible organisations my wife and I give our tangible support to will be desperate to distance themselves from this toxic element.

As I see it these people are vegans and want the whole world to become vegans. The protests claiming animal cruelty are just a means to that end. Have to agree with Alan's point. I have two puppy farms operating within a kilometre of where I live. These puppy farms are regularly visited by authorities such as the RSPCA, but never any vegan group kicking up about animal welfare. I also see a lack of effort by the vegans to convince feral cats to turn vegan and save the thousands of native animals torn to pieces every day. So, on the face of it, I am convinced that vegan terrorists are only concerned with having other people turning vegan.

Through Blazeaid I have been involved in many farms over the last 4 years.
Every farmer I have worked with take a great deal of care with their animals - it is their livelihood.
Unfortunately their may be situations out there where animals are treated in an inhumane way. These need to be addressed in the correct way, not by invading private property and stealing animals.
If anyone chooses to be a vegan or vegetarian, that is their right.
I choose to eat meat and consume animal products, and that is my right.

Kebbin, are you a friend/mate of Mark Pearson? I know of one farm that he will not go back to. He got more than he bargained for.
He was on a property, without permission taking photos about 6 years ago on the north coast of NSW. The owner tackled him to the ground and took his camera off him. Then smashed the camera and took the SD card out.
I bet if these vegans turned up at this property, they would get the same treatment.
