I am very confused.
Does GN stand for Grumpy Nomads or Grey Nomads?
Maybe a few on here need to lighten up and stop being trolls.

I've been tempted a few times to unload on those that have nothing better to do than make narky comments.
Then I count to ten and remember what my Gran used to say. "If you have nothing good to say DON"T."

Its the internet some people get a bit passionate about certain issues,if were all nice little things not saying a word out of place being carefull not to creat controversy , in totalagreement with each other that would would be a bit boring after a while ,it takes all types ,some go a bit over the top ,if any one over steps the mark they will be banned...

One former member was a wealth of knowledge & he upset me once or twice but life is too short for bickering, so I didn't bite & wind him up further. I was away when it all blew up.
We all have different strengths, come from different backgrounds, have different "houses on wheels" & NONE OF US KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING so let's just enjoy the postings, facts, "Help Me", handy hints, etc.
At one stage during my working life with Telstra, we specialised into various fields so we "learnt more & more about less & less until we all got to know everything about nothing" - that was the saying at the time.

I'm not so much in agreeance. We all have a right of opinion and that right is ignored by some controlling personalities. Providing the usual- polite, respectful debate.
Yes, the trolls exist but as time goes by we know who they are and their stirring should just be left alone in the desert they themselves create. They still have a right to their opinion if given within the rules.
In effect, your post reflects grumpiness and isnt being direct which must be interpreted, who you refer to, which is quite broad.
I think we in cyberspace have countless characters that you might take a dislike to but if you met them on the road you'd likely enjoy their company. The internet transforms people. Work with the animal it is, rather than fight against it.
Its a better way to enjoy it.

Certainly a fact that most humans communicate with more bravado in the written word than they would be likely to verbalise face to face. In the case of personal confrontation the trait isn't confined to grumps either, some even find it easier to express profound compliments in writing than when looking someone in the eye.

Well where to start, unless what it written is by someone who writes for a living then it's extremely difficult to know what is being said at times, if you do not know the person or if they do not use punctuation at all ( you must remember that a lot of us Grumpy Nomads never had the Education that some take for granted, but we try). Or you could use smiley faces just to appease some thin skinned sensitive types, well that's not me. It takes long enough to compile something let alone make someone happy by posting hieroglyphics. If that makes me grumpy so be it, if it makes you happy to sugarcoat everything so as people are ill informed well that's up to you.

The written word is very often misinterpreted because it is difficult for the writer to provide emotion, humour and emphasis. Often the reader reads the written word with their 'own' voice, their own 'interpretation' of the word, and often miss the main information because of poor emphasis by the writer.
Whereas the spoken word is very easy to convey emotion, humour and emphasis etc.
So obviously, the writer needs to be more careful in their choice of words and phrases etc and 'proofread' their contribution before hitting the 'Submit Post' button - trying to imagine how the reader may interpret the message/comment/opinion.
........ or it could just simply be -

Gee wiz Rocky, I proof read my updates about 4 times even, back to front, wrong way around, inside out and even standing on my head but even then silly little things get through. Not only that, I get a headache from standing on me noggin.
Am I grumpy? Nup.

AHA - but thereby lies the problem young Dougie
It is not not what you write or proofread, not how much you stand on ya melon, not whether you are indeed grumpy ... it is all in the interpretation of the reader.
Hence, forums become cesspools of mis-read, mis-quoted, mis-understood comments ... OH and mis-placed humour.

Very true. Tone impacts far more powerfully than words, whether written or verbal. Most people 'get' the message from tone even if the words are misinterpreted.

I doubt you did move on. In fact your OP displays the grumpiness of which you declare so many have on this forum.
Perhaps it was the weather. I think you should lighten up.

i'm in my early 50's and when camping always try to talk to the oldies and never really had a grumpy one.
They always love to tell their stories and show off their rigs.
And yes some of their stories can be entertaining, not sure if it's actually factual! but hey who doesn't love a good yarn...

I gotta agree - every GN forum member I have met on the road have definitely not been grumpy.
There have been a couple that have been 'opinionated' and I haven't shared their outlook on life ... but not grumpy.
However, I have sat around lots of 'happy hours' with unknown travellers and there are definitely real grumps on the road.
