It has been awhile since pete and i have been 'on the road' but we are back in the saddle or holden in our case. After spending last winter in Europe and christmas at home its time to get back on the road so we thought SA was as good as place as any.
Im sitting at the Big 4 in Hahndorf enjoying their low rates (now school has gone back) and their free wifi, so i though i would see what others where up to?
I have been informed that we absolutely cannot leave until Tuesday as the Superbowl is on Monday and they have a very big tv here, I'm guessing this is more of a guy thing!!, but after that we are looking at either going down to Port Lincoln or doing the outback maybe to Birdsville although that option has me worried as it seems to be over 40 each day.
so on this beautiful sunny day what is everyone up to?

We are at Bremer Bay WA for Three weeks .The fishing here is fantastic in the river and sea .
The caravan park is filling up with us grey nomads taking advantage of the discount rates at $22.50 if staying for four nights .
And with the recent rain the grass is green and lush as .
We went to the sports club for a meal last night enjoyed by all .
For those not aware Bremer is where the Orca whales are at the moment at the Bremer Canyon and where you can hop on a all day cruise to view them .

We just got home from the Toowoomba swap meet - 2000 sites full of good stuff and some junk. Queued for 1km to get in at 6am and then 1 hour to get out at noon.....thousands of cars and people. We spend half the time looking at the people and the other half looking at the goodies for sale. Everyone was in a good mood and no rudeness witnessed....amazing. Some bargains to be had and I suppose if you want and you need it you pay for it.
My score for the day was 3 pairs of coffin handles - brand new and a steal at $30 the lot. Dagwood dogs were good too. This swap meet is still worth going too just for the atmosphere and the characters you see. Was amazed at the number of females both young and old buying old car parts then carrying them up the hill to their car and then back down for more. One granny about 70 y.o. had a Holden red motor cylinder head balanced on one shoulder and overtook us going up the hill. Good experience.
Good Luck.

Camped at C ockle Creek in Southern Tasmania. Long weekend in Tassie this weekend, so we are packed in like sardines. Thankfully, we got here early, and will remain, probably until after the weekend. Weather is perfect, have hiked out to the most southern accessible spot in Australia. Mr D had a swim yesterday.
Next stop, after a few free camps in between, Strachan.
In Perth, WA, we're hunkering down for the 7 day heat wave where temps are supposed to range between ate 30s to early 40s and around 24 at night.
So far we're getting a south westerly breeze which is cooling things down, so long as youre in the shade but its mid-day Sat and already 40c outside

Yes thanks Blaze, I stand corrected.
Dougwe, we visited Strahan about 15 years ago, new years eve in the rain (in fact it rained for a week) Did the Gordon River Cruise / Sarah Island and a flight up the river then, but will do it again. Looking forward to getting over to the west, just hope the fires have not put a dampener on any of our proposed sites

to the B I L 's place near Kingston. We basically went from Ulverston to Ross to Richmond
to get away from the fires in the west and the floods in the east. Where to next?
East or west ....decisions, decisions.

We were at the Dunalley Pub, just after the fires 2012/13 - along the main street, there was only one house standing, the rest, including the publican's had been burn to the ground. The bakery was gone, and the takeaway shop was burnt at the back.
The fish and chip shop on the wharf, where they wrap your meal in newspaper, was fine, but the sawmill was burnt to the ground as well.
Hope all is well now.

Jules,
They have rebuilt most of the shops and you can see the scars in the landscape.
Such a tragedy.
We have been dodging floods and fires and helping out where we can.
I love Tasmania and after 9 months we have only 2 months to go.

At honest present. About to seal rubber roof with a membrane . Today I cleaned roof tomarrow I'll apply the membrane . Let it dry for a couple of days . Then I'll apply some acrylic paint . Hopefully it keeps roof in top condition ., Then change oil in engine and ATF in auto. Check and grease differential and Uni.. Change oil & coolant in diesel Generater . Fit some LED lights between spot lights and b
Normal lights .. Adjust brake switch at pedal so brake lights work better. Fit air bag hose bracket., Fit solar another extractor fan on top of fridge vent.. Secure two ply alloy plate between solar panels to keep sun / heat off roof .. Check fuel filters for condition, water etc. Teplace drinking water filters . Remove excess chair's, bunks etc . Treat and fill water tanks . All in perpetuation for trip around Aus . We'll be leaving very shortly .,
