There's been a lot on the news lately about the results of one punch king hits by bloody cowards.
I got a call this morning that my nephew is in hospital in a coma and in a critical condition as the result of a king hit at a party last night at his mates place. Apparently someone there didn't like him talking to their girlfriend. This was in the Perth suburbs.
He has his own paving business so if he survives he may have to give that occupation away for at least awhile until he recovers properly which I hope he does.
It may be on the news tonight, if anyone sees it or in the newspapers please feel free to post a link here,
Thanks
Vic

Just had a call from his dad that he is in an induced coma, the police have cordoned off the house as a crime scene and they have arrested the person responsible for the assault, apparently they are not clear yet whether he was punched or pushed, apparently the perpetrator had grabbed him by the throat and pushed him and he fell and hit his head, they are not sure exactly what happened at this stage and no details as to whether this occurred outside or inside the house.
He was carted off to hospital when he started to bleed from the nose, he had had an op on his skull twice to reduce the swelling from bleeding etc.

There really should be mandatory jail sentences for this kind of cowardly attack. I do hope he recovers, and soon, Vic.

There should be Nomadic but justice isn't justice anymore. I'm old, I'm cynical and I'm most probably wrong but I think its time to bring back an eye, for an eye.

Personally I would bring back the lash and let them have a whipping and then do a lot of hard labour.

Vic I am sorry to hear about your nephew and my thoughts go to his parents and other members of his immediate family and the way they must feel.
I once had a thankless job dealing with the low lifes of the human race and at times found it hard to keep my hands off some of 'em that attack children women and unsuspecting members of the general public.
I sincerely hope that he recovers and that the justice system deals with scum bag that was responsible.

Hope he comes out the other end OK Vic. I also agree with others "Coward punch = Jail time" no exceptions for a magistrate to use excuses like cultural differences or anything else.

I have a fairly volitile Temper , and only by a lot of will and training to ignore people I regard as *******s that I have learned to control my temper. Also I am a 94 kg weakling, so I can tell you that it is harder to walk away than fight, than belt someone.I Used to box when younger to relieve the tension, And was good at it.Alcohol and drugs affect people , so ignoring aggressive people is hard. , at least for me.I am just trying to state there are two sides to an argument, and as Ihave learned, violence is NOT the answer.

Just an update, it appears it may not have been a king hit but that he was grabbed by the throat and pushed backwards, falling onto the back of his head, in the driveway I think. Investigations are going on but unlike reported to me earlier nobody has been arrested at this time. Apparently it was his and his friends joint birthday party with only about 16 attending, however one of their female friends bought along a boyfriend who was the one who assaulted him.
He is still in an induced coma and it is possible he may have suffered brain damage, also had part of his skull removed to reduce swelling etc, they have to wait until he is brought out of his coma if he survives to see what damage may have been caused.
He is self employed with his own bobcat and paving business, so that is now in jeopardy also if he recovers as he may not be fit to carry on with the work.
Ironically, his older brother who served in Timor and Afghanistan in the Army and is flying over on leave to be by his bedside was attacked himself along with his girlfriend by a group outside a suburban nightclub when on leave in Perth about 2 years ago, the group had thrown at bottle at them hitting his girlfriend on the back of the head following him up an assaulting him inside a servo where he went to ring the police. Luckily he survived without any serious injuries despite having his head bounced off the glass counter of the servo. Those responsible were tracked down and charged.
Thanks for all the good wishes.

I totally agree. The Courts are two soft on these offenders. 10 years if the person is severely injured and life if he dies. If the person dies, it is murder.

Good news is my nephew has come out of his coma and is talking, still not out of the woods and more treatment to come but it looks promising.
I can't say too much as there have been charges laid and a court case is pending.
His parents and friends are over the moon and hope his recovery continues.
