Don't ever knock quality low audio gennys folks,, you could have our neighbours and they are not friendly,, NO wave hello yesterday and met today as we were left some wood by locals and barely a hello.

In all my years of travelling about ...camping...4 wheel driving..I have seen one reason more than any other that starts blues anywhere.. GENERATORS !!!
There are some very selfish self centred people about...and them having a generator brings em right out. I have Seen a generator thrown in a creek while still running...shot at with a high powered rifle....and more dust-ups than I can remember over them....and most of them caused by owners being very rude and uncooperative.
Sad isn't it.....

If i intend to use my gennie I park well away for other campers and I put out my gennie first so that other campers coming in later know it's there, BUT I do have a Honda 2i and they are not noisy.

Did you offer to plug his lead into your much quieter genie, often an easy solution. He may have had to run the genie and that was the best he could afford.

Except for an emergency, there's no excuse for running as generator when there are others in camp!!!! Drives us nuts!!! So many people have an "it's all about me" attitude. Same goes for those who want to play their music really loud - we go bush for the tranquility..

Been reading this thread with interest and a smile, but as we are 'in the market' for a genny, would be interested in what brand etc you have. Sounds like a real quiet one would do us just fine.

My Honda 2i is running now. camping at Red Hill, south of Port Augusta. No other campers here yet. Only going because we have had a cloudy day.
When the batteries are topped up ,it is turned off.
We were camped west of Cobar last week, we were setting up camp away from others on red mud, as we wanted to use the genny. The people asked if we wanted to move over near them on to the sealed surface. I told them we wanted to use the genny. They "so what" and they were using gennys also. It was better on the sealed surface. A good night was had by all.

Dont know about what Baz has, but we have a honda 3 k which is quiet enough that i can sit a few feet from it and read a book.
I find those always complaining about them to be the ' its all about me type' the majority have generators to be used when needed and have no probs with others excersising their right to use them.
We have never had a complaint about ours, although have only had to use it a few times to recharge when we had a week of rain. All the solar in the world is not enough sometimes for the fifth wheeler. Not all go north for winter.
Some of us live on the road full time so of course we have them for recharging, medical, a few comforts ect.
We dont go home after a week of quiet camping like the ones always complaining so we need to recharge at times.
Its a free country. If you dont like them, dont camp there. They never bother us unless the user has them too close to become a safety issue. Bigger issues in life to ponder than a genny going.
If we do need to use it, we do it in the morning as we find people have moved on ect or out for the day site seeing so its no bother. We try to be considerate, but if you had a prob with ours and complained, you would get told where to go as you are not the only ones camping. Its not all about you, we are all equal, we have a right to use them. If you want quiet and the genny users where there first, then you go elswhere and visa versa. Blow mine up and prepare to send for an ambulance. You will need it.
Now go take some chill pills or have a few more drinks.

We also have the Honda 20, and yes it is quiet, but out in the back of buggery with no other noise around, even that can be annoying at times. Hanging an old blanket off a line, between 2 star pickets, and positioned so it is between the geny and other campers can really baffle the sound a lot though.

Not likely blaze they are 100m away and we still hear their genny over ours which is quite close at 20 m away

yeh tempting eh,,, a farmer was here yesterday and took a shot at something and later that night also,,, sounded like high cal centre fire. Fox burrows everywhere and lambing season, so they are fair game here.

I also agree. I bought solar panels because I PREFER not to make any noise, but if I have to top up the batteries I will run the genny during the day. And no, I don't have a Honda. I also don't have lots of money or a partner and two pensions for one household. But if you really want me to have the most expensive genny, feel free to buy me one.

I have carried a 4.4 k Genny with us for years, it's been used on the odd occasion when the solar panel fails to charge the battery, or when we get caught short with no clean cloths and have to use the washing machine. one thing I have always done is to go around all the campers who are camped near-by and ask them if they would mind the Genny running for app a couple of hours while we do the washing. ?? we've even offered our washing machine for their use if wanted, Result...... never a complaint, and no extra washing either. I recommend the rule, use your generator at a reasonable hour, and only for as long as required, I think any noise after 7.00pm is inviting a heap of trouble.

We have solar and very rarely have to use the gennie. ( Honda 3kva. ) . However if we have too we do . Always in daylight hours
though. Anybody intending to do it any damage would be strongly advised to think again.

We left our aging 2kva Engel genie in storage and giving the new solar panels a run. We follow the sun so with luck wont miss the genie. If it does get to wet and yuckie SWMBO decides we go C/Park anyway.
It used to be etiquette that you only run genie in daylight ours or at best not after 9 pm. Would appear as more and more people get solar panels there seems to be more and more complaints about generators

I honestly think that some people have been roaming around past their use by date. I will use my genny when I want to .As far as putting sugar or anything else in mine you may get a surprise. I don't flaunt my past profession before si retirement but I can assure you let some say or interfere with any of my property and they will sure find out.
