Just all good friends on the forum Grumpy, male and female, solo or couples.
That is not to say if the chemistry is right that a couple of GN's might end up together, but the idea is to meet people of both sexes, solo and couples at get togethers and enjoy their company as a group, if the sparks fly for two solo's that is great, but not the purpose of the forum.
As Marj says, it is not a dating forum, but that is not to say it could not happen in the right circumstances after meeting and getting to know people like it could anywhere.
That's the way I see it anyway.

We've got a life Tim (Mick the Mungrel?) and quite happy with it, so why do we need to get a life? The man asked a question so we are giving him honest answers.
As I said it could happen in the right circumstances that two people meet and hit it off and it has happened here without naming names.
Bear in mind that some, both male and female are just happy being solo for a variety of reasons. No good building someone's hopes up and then they get them dashed by rebuffs.

I also agree it is not a "dating site" but if ya don't ask the question, ya never gonna know.
However, I don't see that hopes would be dashed by "rebuffs". If no lovely, young, solo/single ladies on the forum are interested it is not rebuffs Grumpy will receive - rather it would be more of a poignant silence.
Most on the forum are anonymous and/or not easily identified - except for those who have photos of themselves published in threads perhaps - so maintaining privacy isn't really a problem. .

Hello all - I'm a solo female who has just started out on the greynomad trail. I did my first trip with sister/brother-in-law to 'learn' the ropes and then set off in January by myself - Albury and then to Brisbane but was very disappointed in not seeing very many other vanners, let alone solos. I have been told it was the wrong time of year, the wrong destinations etc etc (live and learn). I am in Brisbane now until mid to late May or early June and then would like to catchup with other vanners (solos, couples)who are just travelling around. I also looked at caravan clubs but so far have not been able to find one that suits my travel ideas. Any suggestion/advice etc would be most welcome. Cheers to all.

Try the ACC (Australian Caravan Club) if you joined nationally you can travel the country and meet like minded people. $60.00 ordinary member or $50.00 Associate member http://www.australiancaravanclub.com.au/
They also have chapters/branches in all states that have Musters that you could attend, they do have some solo's. Some are also on the road full time.
I know some of the members read and post here.

As Jim has said .. the ACC is Australia Wide .. I've only recently joined but have known numerous members for some time ..
They have some interesting activities that suit all folk .. couples and solos alike .. worth a look into ..
I'm not overly impressed with the website, but it is a work in progress and I do know they have the right people looking into that as well ..

Grumpy, now you've put it "out there" on GN you never know you might just get some pm's if someone is interested and you can exchange details and take it from there if suited.
I have seen a few ads on Gumtree of people advertising for travel partners so that might be another avenue.
Good luck with your endeavours and remember there are always the GN Getogethers to come along and meet others, including other singles.
Was a solo myself travelling Oz several times for 20 years after a marriage break up, never belonged to any clubs or forums then (wasn't online in those days) but did eventually meet someone, but not on the road.

I spent 07 and 08 travelling outback by myself, I never knew you lot existed.
A few times I felt very lonely, so I'd move into backpackers for a while to find company.
I'm not necessarily looking for a partner, but if by some rare chance I find the right person via this website, or on the road, that would be great.
It's a harmless question, when I travel again, I'll look forward to meeting some of you guys and share our experiences.

Hi Lesley, I don't think anyone on here has actually said he shouldn't ask a question or that question, just explained it is not a dating site. I can't see anywhere where anyone said he couldn't ask one.
Nothing to stop anyone who is a free agent (solo) from sending him a pm to find out more about him if they wish.

I'm looking for a single lady, gotta play guitar, bass or piano and enjoy gigging every now and then at festivals and bush pubs.
Personally, feel you will find some one if you look in the right places. Especially when traveling, there's lots of single people on the road and most prefer it that way. I know I do when by myself and meet lots of singles at music and other festivals, they are everywhere.

I stopped looking for a partner many years ago - it's something that "just happens" - it can't be pushed. When I said rare chance - I meant rare chance of finding a partner - you'd have to be very brave to take me on - I'm a baggage load of interest and confusion - scare any decent bloke. lol lol lol.
I divorced my first husband and buried the second - beware No. 3 - I may poison him. JOKING hehe.

Don't worry Lesley, I think there are a lot on here male and female that feel the same, happy with their own company, although if they met the right one things may be different. I am on No. 2 but if anything ever happened to her I wouldn't be looking for No.3, too independent and too complex, no woman in their right mind would want me anyway and I don't blame them.
