I agree with the others Marj, copy and past the comments on a pm to Cindy and let her deal with it.
Nobody should have to put up with abusive pm's, if they have a complaint they can make it by pm to Cindy like the forum rules say.
I will say I am glad that we are not as bad as another forum where open abuse seems to be tolerated, as our GN numbers grow I hope we never become like them.
Keep posting Marj, and hopefully others that have been put off by some may return also...

I've learned that you can't take everyone on face value .. what I do is to keep copies of all threatening PM's and also pass details onto Cindy ..

I must say, for this forum to be mostly respected mature aged adults, there is an incredible amount of bullying and harassment. The flaming PM's one gets for posting opposing views is incredible. Apparently bullying and trolls is not something that is just for school kids.

Gordon, good for you. No one should have to put up with being bullied or harassed, I don't care if the person is well known or not. I like some posters on here, others I don't agree with and others annoy me..just like in real life, but I won't shut up for a bully, not anymore, life is too short to tip toe through life.

I like lots of people, some occasionally annoy me, and some I avoid...... its like life.
Except, that sometimes we all need to remember that the written word and the spoken word can be interpreted differently.
For those of us who type as we would speak to a person in front of us, remember, they can't see your wry smile, or cheeky wink, or the body language, and what you type may come across as harsh.
This misinterpretation of intention is not bullying, nor is not agreeing with another person. Bullying isn't a "one of" incident, maybe because someone is in a bad mood...... that's rudeness and disrespect.
Bullying is when a person intentionally and repeatedly inflicts discomfort upon another person, perhaps abuse through words or in other ways.

When there is a group of people from any dynamic; whether that dynamic be political, socio economic or common interest based, then there will always be a certain degree of friction. I've probably upset everyone on the forum and have certainly put ideas, opinions and legal arguments out there that will challenge others. Personally, I love a good 'argument' or being challenged as this creates ideas, reviews and revision. However, sometimes some people can't seem to 'agree to disagree'. I thought i was on a grey nomad forum, not a bloody school yard one.

You get too much out of this great forum to let a very minority get you down. Just ignore the ones you don't like and that are causing trouble like I do.
While I was up in Townsville I had a PM from someone I don't like what they say on the forum asking to meet me but I chose to just ignore that PM. There, now they know. As Dazren said it's only about 2% that are not nice and that's a very small number out of 100.
So don't let them get to ya mate.
It will take more than words to stop me getting on here. I have been told by someone I post "absolute crap" but chose to get mileage out of it for a while and posted more AC. Then I get heaps of people saying they love or at least enjoy what I say and go about the way I do things on the forum, so there ya go, you can't please all and I don't set out to try.
Just stay the way you are and have fun Marj.

the 'peer-reviewed'/generally agreed approach to such unfortunate correspondence is (in summary):
Stop responding to the bully's messages.
Save the evidence.
Block the bully (i.e. change your account settings).
Don't wait too long to ask for help (i.e. report the bully to the service provider, being Cindy in this case, asap).
You have done a great deal for this forum. I hope you get past this and remain a significant contributor...
and I hope this topic/thread makes ALL of us consider our future behaviour here too.
