Some of us are plannign a get together at Whiteman Park later this month (August) or early September, depending on the arrival of some who are at Kalbarri at the moment but heading south towards Perth soon.
So please keep an eye on this thread for more definite details as time progresses, JRH and Wombat (if we can find him) will be involved also if they are around at the time.
Here is a link to Whiteman Park, entry and the picnic area (except for booked huts) is free, they also have a dog exercise area in the park.
count us in , sounds grand, bbq weather may be nice, heheh .

Hopefully it will be before you leave the state, it would be great if you can make it.
As soon as JRH or I have more info we will post it here. Hope Wombat can make it when he gets out of his hole, should be soon the mating season is coming up!

Always welcome Alfie and anyone else who can make it.
We are just waiting for our guests of honour to let us know their time of arrival and availability to set the date.
If it is raining on the day there is plenty of shelter at the park and also an indoor cafe.......

Good point JRH, but if he wants to check out the local scene (if Mrs Wombat lets him) he needs to move about!
Must be getting pretty smelly down that hole if he has been hibernating over winter, lol !

Hopefully the rains will have disappeared by then, it has been fine up until yesterday, but it is winter in Perth, as said in an earlier post most WA grey nomads head to Carnarvon and north for the fine warm weather during winter for the "Granny Season" as it's called over here.
Very similar to Qld where you have to go north for the winter to escape the winter rains and cold etc.

Friday should be a good day Blaze, we need a day when the trams are running (Friday ok) for our guest of honour as it was his idea.
Friday you miss the weekend crowds, other than a few busses of overseas visitors mainly to the Wildlife Centre.....some rellies of Wombat are there......
Any way see what the masses want.....JRH is the one to contact if anyone wants to pm for some reason.....
Hope you can make it too Colls.....

Not yet Colls, we are waiting for someone to arrive from the Shark Bay area so hopefully won't be too long. As it was their suggestion we can't very well have it without them unless they take too long getting here maybe. I'll leave that to JRH.
JRH will be coordinating the get together, I am off down south on Sunday for a couple of weeks so possibly may not be there when it is on but then again may be back in time if it is delayed.
It will be on, but just pending, sorry for the delay, it can't be helped.

Thanks for the date info JRH, we are back from Pemberton so may be able to make it on the 31st August (11AM0.
The carpark is No 7 shown on the map, it is near the kids pool and toilets/tram station/cafe, see map link;
Weather predicted as good on the day, hopefully will not change.
Dog poo bags available at Info Centre, dogs ok on leads. Coin operated BBQ's at various locations in park. Suggest bring picnic blanket or folding chairs although some seating should be available if we have a shelter. BYO food and drink etc.
We have a few from interstate coming along so a good chance to meet up with grey nomads from WA and elsewhere....

Some rain now forecast for Friday, but hope to have a shelter arranged for the group. All meeting at the Info Centre (near Main Carpark 6) at 11AM on Friday 31st August, and will take it from there. Suggest get all maps and info on activities/times etc there when you arrive. If you arrive late, ask the info centre where we are and our shelter will have an Ozzie flag on it. Suggest bring fold up chairs and of course BYO drinks/food etc.
For those who can make it hope to see you there, promises to be a fun day!

That great Lynette and Howard, look forward to seeing you all and doggies, although only allowed on leads, there is a big dog enclosure near the Mussel Pool exercise area where they can run around free I understand.
When we meet at the Info Centre near the main carpark, we will make a decision on what shelter and what part of the park.
Info will be left at the Info Centre for late arrivals, or just get a park map from them and check it out, there will be an Ozzie Flag on the shelter we will be using.....we may get the shelter at Mussel Pool if it is available......or somewhere else...
I will leave my mobile number at the Info Centre for any late arrivals who can't find us.....

What a fantastic day with some fantastic people, I will let others comment on how they found it.
I am afraid I am in love with a female that was there called Gracie, she is a black labrador belonging to one of those who attended, what a wonderful dog she is and well looked after and in top condition, a credit to the owners...
