That is one of the failings of this forum, Cindy wont allow it. It is her forum and we just have to go along with it.
I do not agree but there you are, we have no choice.

You can advertise anything for sale on here if you pay Cindy's advertising fees.

We are not commercial advertisers Ma, even the courier mail has a free section for small private ads and they totally rely on advertising

I might be wrong Elaine, please don't take anything I say as gospel, but I do feel that members should be able to trade things between members as do other forums, even a large commercial forum owned by a magazine

It would be a great benefit to members Brian. It would also give the vendor and the purchaser for that matter a little bit more security as in they would be dealing with fellow members.

I have no axe to grind one way or the other, but I think Cindy has made her wishes clear and it should be left at that. Trying to force her hand is the wrong thing to do in my mind, after all there are plenty of other places you can advertise, if you wish.
Just my opinion. Landy.
And you are entitled to it and we should respect it just as you should realise that others have the right to disagree with you
I honestly don't think it was the intention to force Cindy's hand landy but surely it can't hurt for her to know that there are quite a number of members who consider this to be an advantage.
Untimately it is Cindy who will decide either to change her rules or let them stand and being the type of forum that we are the members will abide by that decision.
Good management of anything be it forumus or in business is down to gauging the wants, needs and wishes of the members or clients.
Hi Goinsoon & Ma
I do of course respect your right to disagree with my opinion, it would be a poor world if we all thought the same.
I have just observed, although I have only been a member here for a year or so, that this subject has come up several times and it appears that it is not a direction that Cindy wants to go in. I personally would leave it at that. But as already said just my opinion and I appreciate being able to voice it in a friendly forum.

you are correct Vic, Cindy did say she would think about it.
I think Cindy is more concerned about the legal aspects of buying and selling on this site and does not want any kick back from failed sellars or buyers maybe laying blaime at her feet.
Most poeple do not read the posting guidelines of all forum's they join, there is one guideline that most people seem to be missing, here it is:
we all join this forum having read the guidelines or if some people did not read them then it is about time they did.

Dave, not many people do read the forum rules before joining, please do not think I was having a go at you, that was not my intention.
And do not regret posting what you did, it was a idea that you did not know the answer to and that is what this site is all about, helping others, sometime down the track you will be able to answer questions from other new members.
I also agree with your suggestion, I have voted yes in the other topic from GoinSoon

If you look at Cindys reply on the poll thread you will see that is not the case, as she has said, she is aware of the situation and is giving it serious thought including how it may be implimented, by the way she spoke she did not indicate that she thought her hand was being forced at all.
And the idea of the poll was not at all to try and force her hand as you implied but rather get an idea of members feelings on the subject, no more, no less

I think the caution is about sales going belly up if negotiations fail between the 2 parties, which could affect the ambience of the forum. These things can get very personal. Go to Gumtree.

I think that what could possibly detract from the friendliness of this forum is the possibility of a purchaser/vendor becoming disgruntled after the event and, in the heat of the moment, posting opinions/views of the other person which don't add to the spirit of this forum.
