Looks good Shogun, great signwriting. One place you will have to visit is The Great Aussie Beer Shed here in Echuca. It matches the ideal of where you want to go.

Hey Shogun a great pub is the Magpie and Stump in Mintaro South Australia. Another one is the pub on Horne Island in the Torres Strait. You might have to leave the van at Cairns for that one.

Don't forget the home of Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice www.wollombitavern.com.au/DrJurd/index.htm, and the famous pubs in the Hunter Valley coalfields, known for their decorative wrought iron verandahs. www.huntervalleyhotels.com.au/lower_hunter_valley.html
Specially get to the pub at Neath and ask about the miner's lamp. www.huntervalleyhotels.com.au/lower_hunter/neath/neath_hotel/neath_hotel_miners_lamp.
.... and then there are the haunted pubs.........

Congratulations Brett, I love your logo, you are sure to turn a lot of heads with that one...AND what a fun way to see the country, my passion for snooping is grave yards and light houses....I love the old pub buildings ...but I don't feel too comfortable snooping around those..lol..but I do love drawing them. NOW I will be able to see them through your eyes...so cool...Will you take internal shots too...I hope so..I love the old Bars and stool...and the spittoons, is that the right word...Arrrrr men can be so gross. lol
I will follow your web site..I found my blog was easier when traveling than my web site, also my FBook Fan page was very easy to use and I got lots more feed back from it, which is fun.
Cheers Sharon
Ps I had to edit..I called the pub, pup....lol..I love them too.

There are a few Ettamogah Pubs around Oz, I believe a couple have closed down, eg; Morley WA (Now Fast Eddy's) and one in Qld. NSW Albury I think is still going but a google will tell you which is which. Here is one on the Gt Eastern Highway at Cunderdin, WA;
And of course don't forget the legendary Daley River Pub going up the middle.

Another interesting pub I would like to visit is the one in Barringun, 130 ks north of Bourke on the NSW/Qld border. Run by a lady called Mary Crawley who is 86 years of age.. She is the oldest female licensee in Australia. I have a two page rip out from a newspaper with her story, holding on to it with the hope of visiting her one day. Her hubby died back in 1996 and she has been running the pub on her own ever since.

Great Shogun, looks good. You might catch up with a big bus from toowoomba with a husband and wife traveling. Claire is her name and Ian is e husband and she does t shirts and stubby holders etc to help pay for their travels. Not sure where she is just now. She was here in Bendigo for the Dinki Di Ball last month. The bus has Claire on the spare wheel at the front. Nice couple. Happy travels. Tess

Theres an old pub at Trundle, NW of Parkes NSW, that claims to have the longest verandah in Australia. Trundle also claims to have the widest main street. Interesting place.

Had those two websites in my favourites for quite awhile. When planning a trip I usually have a look at those sites to see if there is a country pub that has that "certain appeal" and will drop in if it is on the way.

The one's that stand out in my mind are the Malanda Hotel on the Atherton Tablelands Q. It's huge and the local silky oak timberwork is just beautiful. Good food too.
The other one is The Farmers Arms at Cabarlah, north of Toowoomba Q. This a favourite of mine because both my Mum & Dad were stationed at Cabarlah during the war. Great meals, great staff.
The Logan Village Hotel Q. Great timberwork, great meals, friendly staff.

There is an interesting one up the Newell. Beautiful old pub, two storey with a verandah all round. Its either at Mirrool or Ardlethan, can't remember now but you can see it from the main road, only a couple of hundred metres up the side road. Free camping out the front of the pub. Somewhere between Nerandera and West Wyalong.

Oh just drive and stop when you come to a pub. There are pubs everywhere and even the roadhouses are pubs in the outback. Many of these stops were highway inns during the horse and Cobb & Co days. There's so much history in these buildings books have been written about them. I've worked in a couple of old landmark pubs in Adelaide - The Brittish in Port Adelaide and the Reepham at Ovingham. Also the Ozone on Kangaroo Island and the former Lincoln Hotel in Port Lincoln before it was destroyed by fire and resurrected as a modern feature of the town. I also worked at the Boston and the Tasman in Pt. Lincoln. I didn't work in the Northern or the Pier. These are all historic hotels with many stories in the bannisters of the solid staircases. Many have undergone refurbishment, but the original skeleton remains within the walls and corridors. You should have a beaut trip. Just resist the urge to drive after you've tasted the produce of the pubs. Safe and happy travels.

you better go to the Fish Creek pub, Austalia's most southern pub on the mainland, haven't been to Tassie, then Shark Bay, the most Westerley, Byron Bay the most Easterley and the Torres Hotel, Thurs Is. Australia's most northern, and then to Eromanga which is the furtherest pub from the sea. good luck
Well i am in the final stages of heading out on the road fulltime for a year or 10 and got the sign writing done on the motorhome today.
I am planning on visiting pubs around Australia and would love any recommendations of ones to visit in my travels.
The website is still in its infancy but am working on it :)
