Welcome to the world of solo nomads, among all the other nomads.
Do you have dream destinations to which you will be heading?
Or will you be pointing the Toyota logo left or right when you drive out of the gate?
Keep us posted. Stick with us. Cheers

Welcome! good luck and safe travels.
I've been on the road for over 2 years and just got back to Melbourne after 5 cold weeks in Tassie!
Keep us posted to where you are and hopefully we can meet up. In the meantime just ask away!

Welcome Nancy. We'll have enough Solo Hi-Ace Gals to start our own Club at this rate. The more the merrier.
Cheers, Sheba.

I have just put a deposit on a transit. Doe's that exclude me?

I'm sure you can join Chichi. Is that a Ford transit van? A bit bigger than a Hiace?

It may be higher but I think its about the same length. So its probably like a high top hi ace.

Course not Chichi. No prejudice here. You're still a solo Campa-gal.
And this does not exclude ladies towing Caravans, before I get howled down here.
Cheers, Sheba.

Who me? Nah, I wouldn't howl down a solo or any other nomad.
As long as that snobbery thing between vans and motor homes doesn't encroach on this site I'm a happy camper.

Something I noticed on my recent trip - and had noticed previously - most drivers of campers - large and small - don't wave back - wonder why this is so? I thought one of the reasons to wave is just to acknowledge that you are aware of what is going on around you, not just in front - thats what I heard somewhere anyway.

We don't differentiate. We wave to anyone that is towing any sort of "home" and also motor homes and wicked vans and campers too.
We are all doing the same thing after al.

Welcome Nancy you will learn so much from the lovely folk on this site I know I certainly have. I'm heading off on my 1st solo trip this coming Sunday, leaving Melbourne and slowly making my way to fn qld (weather permitting) so I'm really hoping to meet up with some of you along the way (I'll be the one in the suburu towing my little a'van) so if you spot me anyone please come and say hi

The waving thing is a bit hard to explain.
I wave to everyone once I leave the metropolitan area. I'd get RSI if I did in the "'burbs". My joints are already buggered.
I wave to caravans, campervans and mobile homes, as well as truck drivers and other road users.
I think the motor home and camper van drivers don't appear to wave if they are in a rented unit. Most of them come from overseas, particularly Europe, and don't understand the "wave".
Keep waving possums. Eventually you'll get one back.
My girlfriend and I did a lap in 06 when I picked up my van. She got sick of people not waving so she did a very exaggerated version of the "wave" through my windscreen. The ratio of wavers to non-wavers increased dramatically. Try it.

Yeh - I wave to all - but only out of the city - as you say RSI would develop for sure - I do get a lot of waves or "one finger ups) , and it really doesn't worry me if people don't respond - just making observation really.

Marj and Ma I'm leaving Melbourne Sunday and heading to Tocumwal, I've booked for 2 nights in the van park, then I'm just taking it day to day heading along the Newall to visit friends in Brisbane where I'll hang around for a little while until I've caught up with everyone then slowly make my way to Cairns.

Shadyandme lives in Numurkah which you will be passing through by the looks of the map. My S.in.L will be doing all my accessories most of the weekend or I would have tried to do a trip, about 125 ks from here.
