Using two controllers
(

)
(Preview)
Hi all .( Gurus') I was reading on another site of a fellow who had 2_lots of 250 watts of solar being fed into his battery bank with 2 20 amp controllers. I am wondering as to the efficiency of this setup or whether it would work better with the 500 watts of solar feeding in to a one larger amp controller....

I submit that this sub forum is now dead due to intervention and antagonism between two regular posters, and because of this should now be reformatted with very close supervision from the moderators to ensure future enquiries do not get swamped by EGO. Alan

Cable square area, compared to fuse or diode square area
(Preview)
Can someone explain, in layman speak, so that I can understand it, please We are informed that 12VDC cable should be a minimum of six square millimetres area, and that larger square area is better, for less voltage loss A normal 12 volt 30 amp blade fuse has a much lower, (never measured it), square are...

Blocking diodes in parallel

I am not an electrician, and have come for advice, and not to start a flame war I have a theory, that for the average layman, such as myself Two lower amperage diodes in parallel, will not allow twice the amps through I had problems trying to force 23 amps through 2 x 15SQ045 blocking diodes, as either my 20...

LFP IN COLD WEATHER
(Preview)
We are at older sons place in northern New Mexico at 8000. The temperature dropped to 9 F with 10 of snow. We put a 60 W lamp in front bay with the LFP battery suite and it kept the space above 40 F. Son ran an extension cord to fifth wheel after I whined about needing to probably run generator in morning since I...

Anyone out there got any information on the durability of flexible solar panels ?, these are the ones with a fiberglass or plastic backing, and have 3 eyelets each side to attach. I am not asking about the ones that fold up into a small square, these can't be folded, and perhaps not even rolled up. They ar...

Okay, have got two panels up and running, with the new regulator ticking away just fine. In at Altronics yesterday, and when I asked the sales person what I wanted, he did a few calculations, and advised that the diodes (2x) for the two 160w panels (4 diodes all up) should be put into a metal enclosure, th...
