The Plenty Highway. Boulia to Alice Springs

We have just completed the Plenty Highway from Boulia to Alice Springs and thought we'd share our experience. We had a great two nights at Tobermorey Station. A great place to stay with very friendly staff. The road from Boulia to Tobermorey was a mix of bitumen and dirt. The dirt wasn't too bad but there were patches of bull dust. From Tobermorey to Jervious ti was very rough. Stretches of corrugation and a great deal of bull dust. Very frustrating when people either overtake you or pass oncoming at fast speed and flick up stones - yet another chip in the windscreen. Take your time on this section. We spent a night at Jervios Station. Very basic camp ground and facilities. Jervios to Gemtree the road was varying. Gemtree was a great place to spend a couple of nights. Try to make it on a Wed or Sat night for the camp fire dinner. Gemtree to Alice is all bitumen.
