yelgen rest area

I had the displeasure of staying at the  above rest area last night. All was good until about 6.30 pm when the in flux of back packers arrived I counted 50 of them with 10 completely surrounding our van parking less than a metre front and back from us if there had been a fire no way would we had got out. I had to sternly request a couple to move so we could leave this morning .I was told this is a regular occurance since the Byron shire has come down hard on them in Byron Bay

We stayed there a few months ago. There were many backpackers but generally behaved themselves. I really cant figure why they must camp on top of everyone.

Mm. That was unfortunate. When we have stayed there, we try to get there early. Park in the designated bays for big rigs n other rigs have parked beside us and at the back of us as the day progressed. Always make sure the one behind does not leave enough room for a wizzbanger to get in Between us. Usually back packers park in the smaller car parking bays but when that fills up then they come in, in front of us only. We plan to leave late to give them in front of us time to leave . What annoys me is the motor homes n caravan owners who arrive when there is plenty of space in our area,  decide to park in the designated truck bays. Especially the refridgerated bays. even put awnings n chairs out. We have told a few people to come park near us not stay where they r. They ignore us n stay anyway. Police should do regular patrols n fine  those illegally parked in truck bays then move them on. Mongrels. If u want a spot, get there early in the day. There is plenty of room for us in our area. Bas + eve, better luck next time u stay. Cheers. Rocket n strop

I just viewed it trice more, so thats 302 views. I don't aout records.

I have no comment to make other then that over the years probably used the rest dozen or more times for morning tea. Only on one these times last year did we see presents of backpackers and their wizbangs, they seemed happy enough lot, would add I would not like to live them.

They like to share and as for parking next to you so close, that is the culture in Europe.
