I am about to have another go at this !

Back after almost a year , I am about to try again .

Due to my health failure and transport department rules I am no longer permitted to have a QLD "LR" license so I have had to reduce my ambitions and a year without work due to those medical issues has not done a lot for my finances .

So now I am looking at a H200 ( 05 to 10 most likely ) HiAce Commuter bus - in a Diesel preferably ,( due to budget probably with a few kays on it ) and do most of the conversion myself .

Going to be restricted to short hops , maybe 2 to 4 days  - maybe even a week if I plan it well and organize it with my GP .

I have to lose 60 kg , more likely if I am doing something than sitting around sulking ( which I have been doing for the last 6 months - put on 20kg that my body can not handle ! great with type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease )

Anyway going to try and get off me derrier and do something .

Give yourself an incentive.
Try dog walking.
Any neighbor. Family.Mate, working, needs pet exercised.

Contact local RSPCA. BUY a small pet.
That's commitment.

I've been a vegie for 7 months now. Bed. lounge, bog, bed.
Got over implant, finally. then foot collapsed on me.
I'm trying to get it to where I can walk a bit too.

Lots of us have problems. Me I'm around 25\30kg over top.

Think slim.

Take a NAKED Photo of yourself.
WITH Belly pushed out and stooping slightly to emphasise all the bulges and wrinkles.

Seriously
BLOW it up. and stick on fridge door at eye level..

Mine looks. "Jeez. Is that me on a good day"..

Incentives mate. Incentives..

Definitely no dogs .( allergic)
My biggest problem is straight up - I eat too much !
I have already sold my TV and my lounge chair .
The big thing is that I need to get out and about - after I had the heart attack , I just stopped pretty much everything . and qld transport ( and the doctor ) will no longer allow me to hold any heavy vehicle licenses .
So I am doing Dumtree , ebay , and just about any where I can ,looking for a commuter bus - pretty much the biggest "wizzbang" you can get .
One salesman at a yard said that some of the coasters can be mod plated for driving on a car license - If so that would be a possibility .

Good on ya pony-tail, no looking back now. Keep looking, the right vehicle is bound to pop up sooner or later. Good luck with the fit-out.

Cheers, John.

Firstly good luck with your health problems, pony-tail

I did read somewhere, but never bothered to save the link
Someone did an experiment on loosing weight

One group were told to do nothing different except to eat less than they would normally eat
One group were given a diet to follow
One group were given an exercise program to follow

The people who lost the most weight, were the ones who were told to eat less

I thought that you had to have a heavy vehicle licence, to drive any sort of (21 seat) coaster type motor home
Can you keep us informed about

Misinformation is rife out there but according to  Qld transport today - any camper with a GVM of less than 4.5 tonnes can be driven on a car license but if it is registered as a bus , must be under 4.5 tonnes and be registered for 12 or less seats , if driving on a permit unregistered it must state on the applicable plate or plates that the vehicle is less than 4.5 tonnes GVM and is plated as a 12 seater if the manufacturers plate disagrees with the modification plate plates then supporting documentation is required .

Apparently some mobile homes have been illegally complianced and some illegally mod plated . if the vehicle can not be legally complianced it can be ordered to be destroyed . It is an offense to sell or give away such a vehicle - he was not sure about breaking it up for parts and I did not wish to wait for an official answer as it does not concern me .

All as clear as mud - well maybe clearer than that but open to misuse and interpretation .

Note tis is for QLD only

Presumably the Dr's strategy is first and foremost to get you up and moving and some social interaction too (a diversion and good for the brain).

Some ventures can be kangaroos, the closer you get the further they bound away. If the project is most likely to keep you at the keyboard or on the phone more often than not and for months, then maybe some of the knowledgeable souls here might suggest compromises, alternatives that get you to camp spots and getting about, much sooner.

Existing conversions?

Compromises, cheap 'swish-bang' van with mattress, esky, $20 stove on a folding table and side awning?

Used motorhome, a smaller Jayco? Ex-hire Toyota ute converted?

Used Toyota ute with a drop-off?

A wizz bang is what I am looking at at present , A H200 ( 04 to 10 ) hiace commuter slwb - That is what I can pay cash for ( I do not own a car at present , my daily is a 750 Honda bike and I have a 1993 Harley Davidson Tour glide ultra Classic - If I can get the new carby on it - more hobby than transport )

The big difficulty at present is finding one being sold by someone who is not honesty challenged .

Having lost more than 30kg after mucking about for years with diets and other schemes with no result I can tell you that IMO the answer is

Eat Less Check out www.calorieking.com.au and use the calculator to see how many calories a day you need
Then reduce by 300 calories and start eating that amount each day ( I try to have 1500 calories a day or less )
Drink tons of water

I have also found intermittent fasting helps so some days I finish eating at 4pm and start again at 10am next day however if you are a diabetic you cant do the fasting !!

After a few weeks you wont need the calculator you will know what calories and portions to eat and which foods fill you up for less calories

TASTE is vital make sure you eat really tasty food ! If you eat bland food you will be more likely to give up and increase your intake.

Check the calorie value and make a list of good stuff to eat

You will discover things like A small bag of potato crisps has as many calories as a 200 gram steamed or baked in jacket potato which would you rather eat ?

I found Lean Cuisine and healthy choice frozen meals very helpful as they are clearly marked with the number of calories.

Good Luck but make your own luck get serious about it and DO IT !

I can go from 112 to 118kg in a week pretty much. and down to 102.

But My problem is MY sweet tooth.
You HAVE to control the one primary stopper to weight loss you have.
We ALL have ONE. Basically.

Control that... You're fine.

I eat when bored.
Work all day. Brekky and something at evening Easy.

Doing nothing.
Graze all day. SWEET stuff. Chocky bars. Bread\Marmalade.
Caramal Pop Corn by the bAGssssss full.

You find that if you had an active life (Raced Outrigger canoes till I was 68yrs) then stop.

That's where you start with the kilo's.

117kg yesterday. But I can still go briskly Up\Down the 14 stairs several times non stop with no problems and did 20 laps of pool in the arvo. (foot kills though)

SOOO I kid myself.

It has to stop. The chokky.

Any proven blockers known out there????.

PS. Above.

MOST areas have "walking clubs".  Check local rag. We have around 40km's of flat beach here plus all the hills behind it.

Incentive lad.  Give them a ring.. THEN FRONT..

Once you've done that you half way there.

It annoys me a bit - that I do not drink , do not smoke , do not eat sugar , eat very little red meat , rarely eat bread , I do eat cheese , steam my food not fry .
This should not have happened to me ,
3 years ago I was 103 kg , had an accident causing a spinal injury - within 1 year I was 150kg and having type 2 diabetes another year after I was 145kg and had a heart attack .
That is not what I was actually posting about , I was interested in opinions on the H200 Toyota HiAce Commuter bus ( 04 to 10 )
