A blog for vehicles discussion?

With the increasing interest of discussions regarding specific towing vehicles, perhaps this Site could include a vehicles discussion forum?

Perhaps a sub-forum of Techies' Corner?

Putting it out there for opinions and responses. confuse

Patrol
Patrol.
Patrol.
Patrol.
D-Max. D-Max. D-Max.

Is there anything else?.................Chuckle.

MODELS. RATHER than MFG of would be better idea methinks.

They ALL have some better and some not so good in their line ups.

3Plus ton.

UP TO 3 ton.

UP TO 2.5 ton.

UP TO 2 ton.

UP TO 1.5 ton. Including Camper\slide ons.

Then a sect for 5thers.

possibly one for M\Homes too. size and mfg\model
FWD.. RWD...AWD>
Though they have their own magazine and forum. Payment entry.

THEY speshul hey....

It would only work though if people were HONEST as to what it was\is like
Performance. Comfort. reliability and economy. OVER a season or more. Not just coupla months.

Got possibilities.

Maybe start at the top weights for a week or so each. Give people time to get it in.
And that way. It'll be in concurrent.
Not all sized. makes all jammed together??.

week on 3plus ton. Week on 3 ton etc.
Could make pages up as Sticky's then. Not needing to scan through the lot to find the weight range you interested in?.

Off to watch "Casper the Ghost" on the box. Shhhhhh. childish mentality hey.

YES Blaze.
But on here. We get a fair number of NEW vanners Motorhomers and just veh purchasrs.

To get a list together, of rated sizes. weights, and capacities. All in the one spot,
WOULD help make van towing safer. If they took note of figures. Not Pictures.

The way vans are expanding in size and weights.
With the lack of legal SAFE sized vehicles to tow them in this country.

People DO need a decent guide for such. There ARE a lot on the roads
with veh's not legally Man enuff to tow what they've bought.

It's a pity somebody with more vocabulary than I. Couldn't contact each veh MFG.
Asking then to compile a SAFE weights and tow capacity's of each of their vehicles on market.
Explain we are a vanners forum and would like to inform both newbies and experienced drivers.
Which vehicle of EACH brand. is SAFELY capable of what.

Redbook, Carsales, carsguide and a few others have tow weights, power outputs and such covered. Unfortunately, people are pretty lax when it comes to reviewing their cars, statements like 'It tows the van easy, don't even know it's there' and 'I get really good mileage', don't really tell us much, but that's all you get from most. And then of course there is brand loyalty: whatever car people have is usually the best car in the world.

I go to Product Review when I want to review or research: cars, lawnmowers, electric drills, washing machines, TVs, caravans, camper trailers, paint, laptops, PCs, cameras, real estate agents, department stores, online sellers, ad infinitum. Very little brand loyalty and brutally honest reviews.

The Caravanland and Practical Caravan sites provide pretty good reviews on both caravans and tugs.

Read it again BLAZE.

A "not so "Subtle" way if getting. tow weight veh's into same groups.
2 .2.5. 3 ton etc.
More trying to get Individual veh Capacities into groups ... shhhhh.

That's the problem. MFG's SAY MY veh's WILL tow X amount.
But when you get ALL the figures together. and subtracted. Oh dear...
And you've already bought van and tug.

This MAY? Could?. Help some. Maybe... Yes.
If actual awners and users. with differing vans sizes\weights list theirs.
PLUS the Performance and economy.
We'll ALL learn more.

The mag's etc only follow the mfg's pay packets each month. NEVER the truth.
Redbook. Carsales etc. Just copy down what mfg's print out.

Anyway. We'll see.
And thank's for comments. I hope some are helpful hey.

Of course the mags, carsales, redbook, etc copy what the manufacturers say, they can't make up their own numbers! Manufacturers are best placed to issue weight parameters, after all, they have teams of engineers designing the things and testing departments to test. Not to mention warranty, why would a manufacturer issue a tow weight the vehicle can't handle and then warranty it for 3/5/7 years. Silly argument!

Folks,

What I had in mind was more of a discussion group about vehicle model enquiries and opinions.

Getting into detailed mechanical specifications will get heads spinning from most bloggers and we don't want to get into a deep "experts" opinions debate.

Have a look at recent blogs by MEZZA56 - 200 series LC fuel consumption, and The Belmont Bear - Jeep Grand Cherokee.

They are general enquiries seeking opinions about specific vehicles only.

Keeping the blog simple is the key and relative to Vehicles/Tugs. Similar to the dedicated SOLAR forum.

Hey, another forum could be specifically about caravans, also. Or combine tug and dens in one?

Thoughts?
