NEW MEMBER FROM NIMBIN

Hi I'm Lorraine and we are soon to be owners of a Coachman Amara 565/4 Caravan. We are not quite 'Grey nomads' but over 60 so I hope it is Ok to be part of this forum.

We currently own 3 Kombis and two Vintage Caravans but have secretly wanted something bigger and more comfortable for the past couple of years. We will still use our Kombis and vans to attend Kombi Club events a few times a year.

My husband is currently recovering from Cancer surgery and it took this big shock to make us realise life is too short and it is time to rethink what we want to do with our lives. Do we sell up, does my husband throw in his job, what can we afford to do?

So we decided to stop thinking about that comfortable caravan and just buy one, take our time deciding on the rest and do it right.

We pick the van up next week. It's a 2014 model and has only been used once as the previous owner has had his license cancelled due to ill health. It is BEAUTIFUL.

I don't know that there are many other Coachman owners on this site but would love to hear the pros, cons and any hints they have to share as well as all other members input.smile

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum Lorraine.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.

Hope your husband makes a speedy and complete recovery.

Pete and Marion

Gday Lorraine and a very warm welcome to the forum, age and hair colour are not limiting factors to membership of the forum where you will find a great range of knowledge and some very friendly and helpful people, I hope you enjoy your new van and the time to play out in the Big Playground.

YES!

Welcome to the gang ruby6689, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Don't take any notice of Woody, Ruby, he is just in need of a good feed, just look has his pic in his AV, that's him. If he got his crops in instead of running around the world he would have some money to get food.

Nah! He's really a good bloke........when he he is out on his tractor and I tell you that for free.

On Ya Woody mate.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Thank you everyone for the warm and friendly welcome. You have already made me giggle so that's a good sign.

I'm sure I'll have fun trying to 'Pick this Place'. I might even try an add one myself though I reckon it would be hard to trick the seasoned travellers. Not sure how good I'd be at 'Who's this' but certainly have a try.

I love a good forum (yes there are many a not so good one) and I can also vouch for our Kombi Club of Australia forum of which I am a moderator. It has been a wonderful place to meet people and share knowledge with others interested in Kombis.

I am looking forward to doing the same here, though I don't really know too much about newer caravans.

Thank you Tony, there doesn't seem to be too many Coachman owners around. The funny thing is when we started looking at caravans it was the very first make we looked at as there was one here in a local dealer.

I loved the look of them from the start, it was just a matter of waiting until the right one came up.

Happy travels - stay safe.

Hello ruby6689, welcome. Love nimbin, love the northern rivers. Visit sometimes. Love combies. My hubby had major cancer surgery 18mths. Ago. u know the drill, it is ongoing tests for 5yrs. agree, it is a shock. We sold up everything, retired n it is the best decision we ever made. No use chasing the dollar to spend in the future. Cos. Our future is now. Glad u joined our little group. There r a few of us here who visit nimbin. Take care. Rocket

Thank you for your positive words, I wish I had the guts to just sell up everything but with Grandchildren, four animals, home and everything else to consider I am frightened to make the big step. Our dogs are large and Ruby is almost 16 so we know we have a heartbreak coming in the near future. She is also not very sociable. Rocky is also a large dog and 9 YO but very sociable, a 'Staffy cross' which a lot of people assume is a 'dangerous dog' which is far from the truth. Our two cats have travelled before and would pose no problem.

Andy has returned to work today, 6 weeks after his Op so we will see how that goes, but I think it is crunch time.

Look us up if you pass through Nimbin.
