G'day All

Tony & Mary here, we have a 25Ft Playmor drifter 5th wheeler with a Bt50 Tug, currently in Adelaide but about to return back up north to Cairns for winter and attend a couple of rallies along the way. We have been on the road fulltime since November last year and thoroughly enjoying the life. We have also done a few smaller trips prior including attending the Cmca Rally in Bathurst in April last year. I am hoping someone can help me with information on a program that we can use to map our travels. I would prefer something that I can fill in the route travelled via roads not by the use of pins.   I have a windows 10 laptop as well asan Ipad and Samsung Galaxy tablet. Tia.

Welcome to the gang Tony and Mary, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I started to use a workable map I downloaded and a paint program. I lost it when I got a new Laptop and Windows 10 so don't bother any more. I keep a daily diary instead.

G'day Tony and Mary and welcome to the forum. Do feel free to join in the fun games - Who is This under the Digress section and Pick this Place under the general section. The latter is a great way to find new places to visit.

Also a warm welcome from me, Tony and Mary

As I am not yet a full time traveller, I do not use maps to see the few places I have been

There are plenty of free map making websites
I would prefer something that I can fill in the route travelled via roads not by the use of pins.
The one below, allows you to scribble over the roads you have, or want to travel
It also has a a paid section, where you can get extras

https://www.scribblemaps.com/

Hope that this info is useful to you

Hi Tony - If you have the WikiCamps app on your iPad or laptop you can use the Trip Planner function to track places you've been and/or are going to. This includes the map/tracker and the ability for you to add notes, photos etc - brilliant!
cheers, Kay

Yes it is a great name, sometime I have to think twice about what I am doing, as I do not wish to lower the social value, of such a great name

I once read a report (unconfirmed of course), and as I am going from memory, then do not quote me, but the bits that I think I remember, are set out below

smile Around 350 BC or thereabouts. smile
smile The one known as Alexandra The Great. smile
smile Tried to change his name to, Tony The Great smile
smile They said that his credentials, were not good enough smile

Hi Tony & Mary,

Welcome, I am also a newbie to the forum, and have just completed a nine month solo trip around Australia and ( like Dougwe has commented) I also kept a hard copy diary.  But what I have found very helpful (when looking back on my journey) was my phone set up on the windscreen in a bracket as a dash cam.  With it there, I was ready to take photos & videos of anything exciting on my adventure.  (Remember to have the car charger handy as it does take a fair wack of the power to have it on standby.)  But the results have been spectacular as there had been times when- camels, goats, wild pigs, horses, Eagles and dingos have crossed my path and I was able to record it all to look at it again to refresh my memory.

Also I managed to catch a few crazy speeding drivers overtaking where they shouldn't....  Great laughs were had when over the next rise there the car with the car the 'blue & red lights'  flashing sitting on the side of the road with 'speedie gunzarlus' looking very unhappy.  confuseconfuseconfuse   Take care, enjoy the journey and safe travels.....Gwynnie @matildatraveller  floating.gif
