Caravan courses

Hi everyone, we are about to buy our first van, but we need some caravan towing skills, especially reversing (plus the basics). Can anyone recommend a driving school. We are in the Sydney area.

I first made enquiries with Tow-Ed before we actually had our van as I wanted to the course prior to taking delivery. They told me that if we did it in the western Sydney training facility we could actually hire a van but unfortunately that option wasn't available to us in the Newcastle or Central Coast areas. The cost last year for 2 people to do the course on the same day using the same car and own van was $597. Some insurance companies such as CIL will give you a one off rebate on your caravan insurance if you complete the course.

Good on 'ya for taking a coarse! There are so many wrinklies out there that can't manoeuvre their vans properly. Good entertainment though.

Caravan parks and boat ramps are my fav places for entertainment !! I would find a large area like car park at Bunning etc at night . Practice practice practice . Another thing . Work it out with Mrs on instructions as you can't always see where your reversing .. As in standing in a place so driver can see you etc . Another CB, Walky talky  or radio can help . The back of the front wheels is the direction the van will finally go . Best if you start straight "if possible" backing into a spot . Can practice with car trailer if you have one ?

Keith.

WHo you kidding there.

I've driven commercial for over 50 yrs.
Heavy. Haulage, through Multi's. semi's etc.
Even 4 wheel (one on each corner, centre pin at front)
Trailers.

IF somebody watching.
You can guarantee I'll stuff it occasionally.

Don't you???.

When you lose the use of your neck it makes a huuuuge difference.

Hi David,
Your av name rang a bell so checked your previous posts and noticed you haven't replied to any. It's just a courtesy thing to reply to people that go to the trouble of replying.
Sorry but it's just a thing that bugs me.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Thanks every body, I only found Tow Ed, I hope that I can't keep you all entertained at my destined event when I first reverse.

RGREN.

Slightly off point for a tic.

Regarding necks, rubber and otherwise.

My Surgery for spinal implant. 3 months on 30th this month.

I've done absolutely nothing.
to give the internals best chance of healing
and fight the rejection of implant.

Tried most settings, after surgery pain subsided.
Found a compatable setting in first set of prog's
at No 5. (crossed fingers)

90+% of neck pain gone (so far) just some headaches.
From Computer use I think.

Slowly, hopefully. reducing drugs to a comfortable level.

If it stays like this.
This little black duck will be 100% satisfied.

Then some..
Dollars well spent.

All up. Incl taxi's Hotels Food etc
Surgery, and after visits. Around $5 grand out of pocket.
(gov't supplied planes to Brissie.)

Just under $4kish covers surgery and Hosp.

Next report in 3 months again. But looking goooood.

Still a tad uncomfortable when sitting in car
and pressure on pack in lower hip. Just move.

Back to subject.
