Need 120 amp AGM Deep Cell Batteries.

I can not find previous comments of the price and where to buy 120 amp AGM deep cell batteries.
I know that the cheapest is not always the best.

We are currently camping along the Murray and will spend Xmas with family at Shepparton. So it looks like we will have to buy in Victoria as I do not think that our battery will last until we get back home to Logan City Brisbane at the end of January.
Looking for 2 batteries. So what would be the best type to buy?

Open to suggestions.

Jay&Dee

Hello JayDee

I am not an Electrician

I have recently done some research on 120 Amp Hour AGM Deep Cycle Batteries

I am led to believe, so could be wrong,  that a good comparison among AGM batteries, is the weight.
I am led to believe, so I could be wrong again, that a 100 AH AGM battery should weight approximately 30 kilograms,
Therefore a 120 AH AGM battery should weigh around 36 Kilograms

I am in Western Australia, so my prices are perhaps not applicable to your area

As a comparison in the table below both the Bosch and Vision are in Bunbury WA, and the Fullriver is in Perth WA

I have only recently looked at Fullriver, as folks on this forum said that they were the best

Unfortunately at $860 for two batteries (this did include GST), Fullriver, have priced themselves out of my budget

Price comparison10% more than Vision10% less than Bosch43% more than Bosh & 59% more than Vision
Manufacture CountryBosch made in ChinaShenzhen Center Power Tech made in ChinaOne site say America, one site says China

Today I have purchased two Bosch 120 AH AGM batteries for $598 and this also included GST

As a comparison between Bosch and Fullriver, for an extra $37, I could have purchased three Bosh batteries
Unfortunately I do not have the room to fit three batteries

Hope that this info is useful to you

Check net on "GIANT" Battery's.
They have a good rep. been around for a while
and a good price.
DELIVERED to door.

I'm happy so far.

had 2 110a Fullriver. permanently on solar.
One calked (dropped to 3 a and wouldn't hold anything after 5 yrs.
Tother couldn't hold load overnight after just under 7 yrs.

My Exide Excells do same and better at half the price.

I'm just trying a couple of Giants to see how they go in van and electronics on boats.

I bought Full River in Echuca at the auto electrician 105s for $360.
Great bloke. Very helpful and will fit them as you wait.
Heading out of Echuca towards Swan Hill after you leave the large roundabout.
A row of buildings. He's towards the end of the row in a dark green shed.
Sorry I can't remember his name. An Italian sounding name.

Some batteries will be beyond the weight limit that Aust Post will handle.  Couriers might be better and if a delivery address is a problem (when traveling) then it's easy to arrange delivery to a Transport Agent in the area and pick up from there.  We've done that for some heavy/bulky items whislt traveling.

Hey Tony Bev

Where did you buy the Bosch batteries from if I may ask. I could be looking for a couple myself in the near future.

I agree Fullriver seems to have premium priced themselves. The last one I bought about 4 years ago was a 105 amp/h for around $250 from Challenge Batteries in Osborne Park.

 Access Antennas is their website

I was quoted a few months ago (from memory) $312 each.

I was surprised to find that it was a little cheaper than that, perhaps because I purchased two of them

Invoice says

Satellite TV Shop
8/61 Albert Road, Bunbury

Bosch 120AH AGM $271.82 each = $543.64 plus $54.36 GST Total price = $598

As you are in Perth below is their website, as they have a shop in Perth

http://www.accessantennas.com.au/

Just scroll down on the left and click on 12V Battery

They have a cheaper VISION battery of 120 AH, but I choose Bosch due to the brand name plus they are heavier, so should be better (I hope)

Usual disclaimer I have no affiliation with anyone who sells anything, and the batteries are as yet untried by me

Hope that this info is helpful to you

Full River might be a bit high in price but you do get what you pay for. My 105s cost me $360 each. That's $720 for the two and worth every cent.
Also why buy online and worry about delivery when you can buy them and have fitted at the same time.
I don't see the sense in that.

I am a great fan of Full River batteries. We had two in our caravan. They were still going strong after about 8 years, when we sold the van. They'd had pretty constant use in that time, including some extended spells in temps of 40+, and the off road van had been on some very rough roads.
Had to replace our bus batteries a couple of years ago and put in Full River ones.

It is if you can't lift them when you go to PO to collect them.

Most people wouldn't be able to.

Absolutely. Always an easy way to solve a problem, no matter what  it is.

The batteries I just purchased and fitted, were a bit on the heavy side, (for my age/physical condition), but I obviously managed to do it

I will assume that further along the track, I will have to ask a younger member of my family/friends/acquaintances to do the honour of fitting new ones

I would gladly, (and I assume most others on this forum would also) assist anyone, to carry out tasks they are unable to do, while I am still physically able to do so

That in my opinion, is the solution

I preferred to buy locally for two main reasons
Firstly to keep the money in the town
Secondly I do not have far to go, if they do not last the 12 month warranty

Jay & Dee here.

Hey!!! thanks for info, to my original post. But I doubt that we will be able to make it Brisbane with the current battery as we are currently in Victoria and will be until the end of January 17. We will be in Shepparton from next week until Xmas , so will see what the suppliers have to offer re 120 AGM batteries.

I will need to have a dual frame made to fit what will now be 2 new dual batteries on the A Frame. We have a Coromal Princeton hence the fitting on the A frame.

I will seek out a sheet metal company to make same, or perhaps the local battery supplier may be able to do the total refit for us.

I guess that one only has to ask.

 Bosch 120AH AGM $271.82 each = $543.64 plus $54.36 GST Total price = $598

But I purchased them in Bunbury Western Australia
The people I got them from only have three shops, (according to their website), Bunbury, and Perth in WA, plus Brisbane in QLD, which is not much good for the area, you are in

They are supposed to weight 36.2 Kg, I did not weight them myself, but they were heavier than the Fullriver 100 AH GEL Battery, I replaced

If you are putting an extra battery on your A frame, then be aware of the extra weight on your tow ball, or rearrange items in the van, to compensate for the shift in weight

Hope that this info is helpful to you, and that you find what you require in Shepparton

Battery quality varies greatly. I have walked this road before. Give Jay a call at Giant Batteries 1800 853 315. Talk to him he will give you the RIGHT battery at the RiGHT price with shipping.

BTW a GOOD battery will weigh 0.3kg per AH. Any lighter and they are skimping on case or gizzards!!

Do you have a website link to Giant Batteries, as I can not find one

There are people selling

Giant Power Deep Cycle AGM 12V Battery 130AH, with a weight of approximately 30 Kg

On eBay

If this is a true 130 AH, then it should weight approximately 39 Kg
